The Akari 25N is the most distinctive sculptural light in our family — a generous 29.5-inch wide three-tiered organic silhouette that bridges the gap between table lamp and floor lamp. The three layered tiers stack into a single organic form, hand-folded from premium high-density mulberry Washi paper. Where most lights fit one specific role and location, the 25N is designed for flexibility: substantial enough to anchor a corner from the floor, low enough to sit gracefully on a low side table, plinth, or media unit.
At 11 pounds of solid Washi-and-bamboo construction, the 25N has the physical density to feel intentional rather than incidental — you can sense the weight when you place it. The high-density paper resists yellowing and provides superior light diffusion across the substantial surface area, producing a generous shadowless radiance when illuminated. Ships with a 3000K warm-white bulb included.

The 25N (this fixture) has the three-tiered stacked silhouette and sits without a tripod — designed for placement flexibility on either floor or low surfaces, with 11 lbs of substantial weight providing stability in either context. Choose 23N if you want a dedicated floor lamp with classic tripod presence; choose 25N if you want flexibility to move the fixture between floor and low-table placements, and prefer the three-tiered architectural silhouette.
What kind of surface can support the 25N? +
At 11 lbs, the 25N is heavier than typical table lamps. Any sturdy table or media unit rated for normal household objects will support it safely — solid wood, hardwood, ceramic, stone, or metal surfaces all work well. We recommend against placing the 25N on lightweight folding tables, plant stands, or thin wire shelving. For low tables and plinths, the recommended ideal table height is under 18 inches to maintain the lamp's optimal viewing scale; taller surfaces work but the fixture's sculptural impact is best at lower placements. On the floor, the 11-pound base provides excellent stability without need for additional anchoring.
How do I care for the three-tiered shade? +
Dust gently with a soft feather duster or microfiber cloth — pay particular attention to the seams between the three tiers where dust collects. Do not wet-clean, steam, spray with cleaners, or use damp cloths; water permanently stains and warps Washi paper. The high-density paper used in the 25N is more durable than typical Washi alternatives and resists yellowing over years, but it still requires careful handling — avoid pressing or pushing on any of the three tiers. Place away from humid environments and direct heat sources. With basic monthly dusting, the paper maintains its appearance for many years.
For the warmest paper-glow effect, use 2700K-3000K LED or filament bulbs with high color rendering (CRI/Ra > 90). Cooler bulbs flatten the paper's natural amber undertone.
Each piece is handmade by artisans — slight variations between individual lamps in paper texture, tier proportions, and exact dimensions are part of the authentic hand-craft character.
