Zucca

Wood Slat Floor Lamp

A pumpkin-shaped shade built from curved natural wood slats, standing on a steady wooden tripod. Lit, it glows warm through the slats; unlit, it's a quiet piece of organic sculpture for the corner of a room.

ood does something to light that metal and glass can't — it warms it. The Zucca's shade is built from slim wood slats bent into a rounded, pumpkin-like form, and when the lamp is on, the light escapes between them in soft vertical bands rather than a flat glare. The effect is a calm, golden halo, the kind of glow that makes a room feel like the end of the day.

It stands on a wooden tripod — three legs for real stability, with a gentle tilt to the shade — and reads as rustic, Scandinavian, or Japandi depending on the room around it. Switched off, the natural grain and curved slats keep it looking like something considered, not just a light waiting to be used.

The Design

Three things make it work.

01

The pumpkin shade.

Curved wood slats form a rounded, pumpkin-like silhouette. The gaps between them turn the bulb into a soft banded glow instead of a hard point of light — the whole reason to choose a slatted shade over a plain one.

02

The wood itself.

Made from natural basswood with visible grain, for an organic, eco-minded look. Owners note the legs match closely in colour and the seams are barely visible — it reads as a warm, natural material, not a painted finish.

03

The tripod base.

Three wooden legs give a stable, non-wobbling stance — a point owners specifically call out — with a slight tilt to the shade for character. It stands securely on hard floors and rugs alike.

Materials & Light

Natural wood, warm light.

01

The shade & legs — natural wood.

Slatted basswood shade on a wooden tripod, with a metal internal structure carrying the socket. Because it's a natural material, grain varies slightly from piece to piece. Dust with a soft dry cloth; avoid soaking the wood or using harsh cleaners, which can mark the finish.

02

The light — standard bulb, included.

Takes a standard E26 bulb (Max 40W), and one is included so it lights the first evening. A warm-white bulb best suits the wood; for adjustable brightness and colour, ask us about a matching remote-control dimmable bulb. Don't exceed Max 40W.

Where It Stands

Five warm corners.

01  Beside the sofa.

At 56 inches it stands at the end of a sofa as a warm ambient light. The banded glow through the slats is softer and cosier than a plain shade — ideal for evenings in.

02  Beside a reading chair.

Next to an armchair, it gives a warm pool of reading light and a natural, Japandi calm to the corner — a wooden alternative to a hard task lamp.

03  In the bedroom.

In a corner or beside the bed, the low warm glow is restful and screen-free — the kind of light you leave on to wind down rather than to work by.

04  A home office or study.

Its rustic-modern look warms up a working corner, softening a room full of screens and hard surfaces with a bit of natural material.

05  Boutique & cabin rentals.

Cabin-style short-term rentals, lodge lounges and boutique studios — a natural-wood floor lamp reinforces a warm, grounded, hygge look that photographs well.

Setup

Some assembly, then plug in.

Bulb Included

A bulb comes in the box.

It ships with a standard E26 bulb, so it works the first evening. Runs on AC 110–240V — standard US household current — and you choose your plug type (US, UK, AU, EU) at checkout.

Assembly

It arrives flat-packed in a slim box and does need assembling — the shade slats and tripod legs attach with the included hardware and clear instructions. Owners find it straightforward; a handy tip from buyers is to fit the shade slats two at a time.

Switch & Cord

A simple inline push-button switch on the cord — no wall switch needed. The cord runs about 78 inches and can be extended on request. It's a visible cord (see the note below), so plan your placement near an outlet.

One honest note on the cord

The power cord runs from the shade down to the floor and is visible rather than hidden inside a leg. Many owners simply run it down the back of one tripod leg and secure it there so it disappears against the wood — worth knowing before it arrives so you can plan the tidiest routing.

The Scale

Sofa-height, corner-friendly.

Just under five feet tall on a 17.7-inch tripod footprint — enough presence to anchor a corner, compact enough to tuck beside seating.

56.3in

Height · 143 cm

Sofa- and chair-side height. Sits comfortably under a standard 8-foot ceiling as an ambient corner light.

17.7in

Tripod span · 45 cm

The tripod spreads for stability but keeps a modest footprint — leave clear floor for the three legs.

Quick check before you order: allow roughly an 18-inch clear circle of floor for the tripod, and an outlet within about 78 inches of cord reach. Standing beside a sofa or chair, the shade sits at a comfortable ambient height rather than at eye level.

Questions

Answered plainly.

Does it come with a bulb, and can I dim it?+

Yes — a bulb is included. It takes a standard E26 base (Max 40W), so replacements are easy to find at any hardware store. The included bulb runs off the inline switch. Want adjustable brightness and colour temperature? Ask us to match a remote-control dimmable bulb to the fixture, and it ships in place of the standard bulb.

Does it need assembly? Is it hard?+

It ships flat in a slim box and does need assembling — the wood-slat shade and tripod legs attach with the included hardware. It's a little fiddly but not difficult; owners report clear instructions and good packing. A useful tip several buyers share is to fit the shade slats two at a time. No special tools needed.

Is the power cord visible?+

Yes — being honest here: the cord runs from the shade down to the floor and is visible rather than concealed inside a leg. It's easy to tidy: most owners run it down the back of one tripod leg and secure it there so it blends into the wood, then route it to the nearest outlet. Worth planning your placement with that in mind.

Is the tripod stable? Will it wobble?+

The three-legged base is designed for stability, and owners specifically note that the legs are not wobbly. It stands securely on hard floors and rugs. As with any tripod floor lamp, place it where it won't be knocked, and keep the shade clear of curtains.

What kind of light does it give?+

A warm, ambient glow — not a bright task light. The wood slats break the light into soft vertical bands for a cosy, calming effect, ideal beside a sofa, a reading chair, or in a bedroom. For brighter task lighting, pair it with other lights in the room.

From The Atelier

“We wanted the warmth of wood between you and the bulb — slats bent into a pumpkin, light slipping out in soft bands, a tripod to stand it steady. A lamp that reads as calm the moment you switch it on.”
