This Square Cube Pendant reinterprets the traditional round paper lantern through a contemporary geometric lens — replacing the familiar sphere with a clean six-sided cube of hand-folded mulberry Washi paper. The squared silhouette and rhythmic geometric ribbing give the fixture an architectural edge that round lanterns cannot match; the six flat paper faces diffuse light into soft uniform glow that softens the room without abandoning geometric clarity.

A clean six-sided cube rather than the round or oval forms most paper lanterns use. The architectural geometry reads as deliberate modern design — six flat faces of paper rather than a single curved surface. The 33X (13" cube) suits compact spaces and clusters: bedrooms, entryways, narrow hallways, or clusters of 2-3 over a kitchen island. The 45X (17.7" cube) suits standalone statement positions: above 60-72" dining tables (chandelier sizing rule: 1/2 to 3/4 of table length), over single kitchen islands, or as a single statement in larger living rooms. As a rough rule for a dining table, multiply the table length by 1/2 to 3/4 — that's your ideal pendant size. For a 72" table, the 45X (17.7") sits at the lower end of that range and works well; for a 60" table, the 45X is right at the sweet spot.

How do I care for the cube Washi shade? +

Dust gently with a soft feather duster or microfiber wand — pay particular attention to the cube edges and the ribbing where dust accumulates. Do not wet-clean, steam, spray with cleaners, or use damp cloths; water permanently stains and warps Washi paper. Place away from humid environments (kitchen-island installations over stovetops can be exposed to cooking steam — install with sufficient distance to avoid this) and direct heat sources. With basic monthly dusting, the paper maintains its appearance for many years; slight ambering over time is natural and part of the material's character.


For the warmest paper-glow effect, use 2700K-3000K LED or filament bulbs with high color rendering (CRI/Ra > 90). Cooler bulbs flatten the paper's natural amber undertone.
