The candle-style chandelier is one of the oldest silhouettes in residential lighting — multiple arms radiating from a central core, each terminating in what was originally a real candle, then later an electrified bulb dressed to look like one. In the 1930s, Hollywood Regency interior designers reimagined the form with hand-blown glass shades, deep romantic colors, and a glamour that matched the era's film sets. By the 1970s the silhouette had crossed back into French Country and Cottagecore palettes; by the 2020s it had returned to mainstream attention as part of the broader Vintage revival.

The Vienna is built in that tradition. Multiple radiating arms in the canonical candle-cluster geometry, each capped with a fluted glass shade — the vertical ridges in the glass refract the warm light into the kind of layered shadows that distinguish proper hand-formed glass from machine-pressed substitutes. Three Vintage revival colors: Pink for romantic Hollywood Regency and feminine Cottagecore, Green for sage botanical palettes and modern French Country, and Gold for classic Luxury and traditional formal dining rooms.

Bulbs included. Built to UL safety standards. Three sizes (26.8", 27.6", 33.5") sized for residential dining rooms through grand foyers. Chain length 19 inches by default; custom lengths available for high ceilings and vaulted spaces by request.

Pick your mood

PINK · ROMANTIC HOLLYWOOD REGENCY

Soft blush-pink glass — the canonical Hollywood Regency color, the one in every 1930s film set photograph and every contemporary Maximalist dining room. Reads romantic and feminine without being saccharine; pairs with cream walls, brass accents, velvet upholstery, and the kind of dining rooms that lean into glamour rather than restraint.

GREEN · COTTAGECORE FRENCH COUNTRY

Muted sage-green glass — the same restrained botanical color defining current Cottagecore and modern French Country palettes. Pairs with white-painted dining rooms, walnut floors, fresh herbs, and interiors that bring botanical accents indoors. Softer than the Pink, more grounded than the Gold.

GOLD · CLASSIC LUXURY

Warm gold-tinted glass — the most traditional of the three, reading as classic Luxury and Old-World formal dining. Pairs with walnut and mahogany furniture, heavy drapery, and the kind of dining rooms that lean into established formal vocabulary. The Vienna's Gold reads warmer than commercial brass — closer to honey or aged gilt than polished modern metal.

What makes the Vienna

01

Fluted glass shades · the right material

"Fluted" means the glass has vertical ridges running its length — a classical decorative technique going back to Roman columns and Greek pottery. In lighting, fluted glass refracts the bulb light through the ridges, creating layered shadows and a subtle rainbow effect on surrounding surfaces. The Vienna's fluted shades are hand-formed rather than machine-pressed, giving each one slight individual character.

02

Candle-style multi-arm cluster geometry

Multiple radiating arms extending from a central core, each terminating in a fluted glass shade. The geometry creates the layered glow that defines proper candle-style chandeliers — light from multiple sources combining into a soft amber pool over the table or room below, rather than the harsh single-source glare of modern minimalist fixtures.

03

E14 multi-bulb · dimmable compatible

Multiple E14 sockets — the European candelabra base, also standard in American chandelier applications. Bulbs included with the fixture. For dimming (essential for proper candlelit atmosphere), swap the standard bulbs for dimmable E14 LEDs and pair with a compatible triac wall dimmer. Replaceable bulbs mean the fixture never reaches end-of-life from a failed light source.

04

Adjustable chain · custom length on request

19-inch chain length by default — appropriate for 8-9 foot residential ceilings. Adjustable during installation by removing or adding links. For higher ceilings (vaulted, two-story foyers, cathedral spaces), custom chain lengths available on request — email service@stuberlighting.com with your ceiling height before ordering.

05

Three sizes for different room scales

26.8" for smaller dining rooms, breakfast nooks, and primary bedrooms where the chandelier should be present but proportional. 27.6" for standard American dining rooms seating 6-8 — the canonical Vienna size. 33.5" for grand foyers, large dining rooms, and statement placements where the candle cluster should anchor as the unmistakable focal point.

— On candlelight —

"Before there were ceiling fixtures, there were candles. The candle chandelier is the form remembering its origin."

For most of architectural history, dining rooms were lit by literal candles — beeswax tapers in metal holders suspended over the table, casting the warm amber light that defines what we now call "atmosphere." When electric lighting arrived in the late 19th century, the first decorative fixtures were designed to look like the candles they were replacing — multiple arms, soft amber bulbs, the same geometric logic.

The Vienna belongs to that lineage. The form remembers its origin in actual flame — the multiple arms, the warm light from each, the soft layered glow over a dining table. Pair with dimmable bulbs at low brightness, and the lamp recreates the actual experience of dining by candlelight — the kind of atmosphere that turns dinner into an event.

Recommended spaces

Dining room · Pink (romantic), Gold (classic), or Green (Cottagecore)

The signature application. A single Vienna centered over the dining table — the multi-arm cluster casts soft layered light onto the table surface, the fluted glass refracts the bulbs into rainbow shadows on the wall. Pink reads romantic Hollywood Regency; Gold reads classic formal Luxury; Green reads Cottagecore-meets-French Country.

Foyer · Gold or Pink · 33.5" large

The first chandelier guests see when they walk in. The 33.5" large Vienna announces a clear Vintage aesthetic the moment the door opens. Gold reads classic and Old-World; Pink reads playful and contemporary Hollywood Regency. Pair with a console table, large mirror, and the canonical American formal-foyer arrangement.

Primary bedroom · Pink or Green · 26.8" or 27.6"

A Vienna in the primary bedroom turns standard residential lighting into hotel-suite atmosphere. Pink for romantic decor; Green for Cottagecore-leaning bedrooms with botanical wallpaper and natural textiles. The candle-style multi-bulb glow on dimmable LEDs creates the soft golden bedroom ambient that single-bulb pendants can't deliver.

Living room · Gold or Green · 27.6"

A Vienna centered over a living room coffee table or seating area in a Vintage-leaning interior. Gold pairs with leather furniture, oriental rugs, and traditional formal decor; Green works in Cottagecore-meets-modern interiors with walnut floors and botanical accents.

Tea room or formal salon · Pink or Gold · 26.8"

The Vienna's Hollywood Regency vocabulary suits formal tea rooms and salon spaces — particularly Pink for romantic atmosphere and Gold for traditional formal vocabulary. The intimate scale of the 26.8" works in spaces designed for conversation rather than dining.

Questions

Which color should I choose — Pink, Green, or Gold? +

Pink — choose for Hollywood Regency interiors, romantic Maximalist dining rooms, feminine Cottagecore palettes. Pairs with cream walls, brass accents, velvet upholstery, and any room where the chandelier should anchor a warm romantic color story.

Green — choose for Cottagecore-meets-French-Country interiors, white-painted dining rooms, botanical accents. The softest of the three colors; reads botanical and grounded.

Gold — choose for traditional formal dining rooms, Old-World Luxury palettes, walnut/mahogany furniture, classic American interiors. The most timeless and resale-friendly choice; reads as established formal vocabulary rather than trend.

Most ordered: Pink (the Hollywood Regency revival favorite) for residential dining; Gold (the timeless classic) for foyers and formal spaces; Green (the Cottagecore choice) for bedrooms and Tea Rooms.

Which size fits my dining room? +

General rule for dining room chandelier sizing — add the room's length + width in feet, then choose a chandelier diameter close to that sum in inches:

· Room 11' × 13' (sum 24-26) → 26.8" fits well
· Room 12' × 14' (sum 26-28) → 27.6" the most popular default
· Room 14' × 18'+ (sum 32+) → 33.5" anchors the space

By table size:
· 4-6 person table → 26.8"
· 6-8 person table → 27.6" (the default)
· 8-10+ person table → 33.5"

Hang the bottom of the chandelier 30-36 inches above the table surface for proper diner-eye-level clearance.

Will this work with my high ceilings or vaulted space? +

Yes — with a custom chain length.

The Vienna ships with a 19-inch total chain length by default — perfect for 8-9 foot residential ceilings. For higher ceilings:

· 10-11 ft ceilings — request 28" chain
· 11-12 ft vaulted — request 36" chain
· 12-14 ft loft/cathedral — request 48"+ chain

Email service@stuberlighting.com before ordering with your ceiling height. We coordinate the chain length so the chandelier hangs at the correct proportional height for your space. No additional charge for chain extensions up to 60 inches.

Are bulbs included? Can I dim it? +

Yes — E14 LED warm-white bulbs are included (standard 2700K non-dimmable) for all sockets.

For dimming (strongly recommended for candle-style chandeliers): replace the included bulbs with dimmable E14 LED bulbs (widely available at Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon for $8-15 each) and pair with a compatible triac wall dimmer.

Candle-style chandeliers benefit enormously from dimming — the proper candlelit atmosphere requires the ability to drop brightness to about 20-30% of maximum. At full brightness, the Vienna provides reading-light intensity; dimmed, it creates the actual candlelit-dinner experience the silhouette was designed for.

What does "fluted glass" actually mean? +

Vertical ridges running the length of the glass shade.

"Fluting" is a classical decorative technique going back to Greek and Roman architecture — the vertical grooves on a Doric column are called flutes. Applied to glass lighting, the technique creates two effects:

· Visual: The shade reads more handcrafted and detailed than smooth glass — the ridges catch ambient light and create subtle vertical shadows
· Optical: When illuminated from inside, the ridges refract the light through the ridges, creating a soft rainbow-like effect on surrounding surfaces

Hand-formed fluted glass (as in the Vienna) has slight individual variation between shades — each one is its own piece. Machine-pressed substitutes look identical between units and lack the subtle character.

Will the colored glass fade or chip over time? +

No — hand-tinted glass holds its color essentially indefinitely.

Unlike painted finishes (which can yellow or peel) or dyed plastic (which photo-degrades from UV), the color is embedded in the glass itself during the molten forming process. The pigment is part of the material structure — it cannot fade, peel, chip off, or wash out.

This is why 19th-century stained-glass church windows still display vivid colors after 150+ years. Your Vienna's hand-tinted glass shades will outlive several home repaints. The metal frame may develop a subtle patina over decades, which most owners consider attractive aging rather than degradation.

— A note from us —

Each Vienna chandelier's fluted glass shades have slight individual variation in the depth of the ridges and the saturation of the tinted color — these are inherent qualities of the hand-forming process and contribute to the authentic Hollywood Regency character.
