GINKGO SERIES · N°02 · CHANDELIER

Ceramic petals, copper branches,
frosted-glass warmth.

A three-material chandelier that reads as one composed object. Bone-porcelain ginkgo petals — deep-pleated, hand-pulled, ivory-white — set into an H65 copper branch structure, each terminating in a frosted-glass shade housing a G9 bulb. Four sizes from a 6-head intimate to a 12-head architectural statement. Belongs above a dining table, at the centre of a primary bedroom, or in a foyer where the ceiling is asked to hold visual weight.

4 sizes · up to 38.5" · Bone porcelain · H65 copper · 19" adjustable rod

The Vico Gingko is what happens when the ceiling fixture stops being a fixture and starts being a composition.

Most chandeliers work with a single material register — all crystal, all brass, all glass. The Vico Gingko does the opposite. Three materials sit together in the same object: ivory-white bone porcelain (for the ginkgo petals), rich H65 copper (for the branch structure), and frosted glass (for the bulb shades). Each material carries its own optical character; when the fixture is lit, they read as three separate warmth registers simultaneously — porcelain matte-soft, copper subtly reflective, frosted glass evenly diffused. This is the mid-century chandelier tradition at its most considered.

The second in our ongoing Ginkgo Series, following the semi-flush Gingko Ceiling Lamp. Where the ceiling variant sits flush against the ceiling for lower-clearance rooms, the Vico drops from a 19-inch adjustable rod — appropriate for rooms with 9-ft-plus ceilings, dining rooms, foyers, and any interior where the fixture is meant to hold vertical space as well as ceiling attention.

Three materials

Chosen to work together.

Material 01

Bone porcelain petals.

Each ginkgo petal is hand-pulled from ivory-white bone porcelain — a formulation richer in mineral content than standard porcelain, producing a slightly warmer white and a subtly translucent character when lit from behind. Deep-pleated, individually shaped, glazed to a soft-matte finish rather than glossy. This is the material's most considered register.

Material 02

H65 copper structure.

The branch structure is formed from H65 premium copper — an alloy specifically chosen for its rich colour depth and long-term stability. Copper (rather than brass-plated steel) gives the fixture the warm gold-brown tone that mid-century designers preferred; the branches are forged and sealed to prevent tarnishing across years of installation.

Material 03

Frosted glass shades.

Each G9 bulb sits inside a hand-blown frosted-glass shade — highly transparent glass with a soft frost finish that diffuses the point-source bulb into a uniform warm glow. Yellowing-resistant across years of thermal cycling; withstands the bulb's operating temperature indefinitely. The frost is what turns a bright G9 into ambient warmth.

Four sizes, four head counts

Match the Vico to the ceiling.

6 Heads

23.6" × 14.9"

Bedrooms with 9-ft-plus ceilings, small dining rooms (4-seat round tables), intimate foyers. Six ceramic-copper-glass groupings arranged in a compact circular composition.

8 Heads

31.4" × 14.9"

The residential proportional default — primary bedrooms, 6-seat dining rooms, standard foyers with 9-ft ceilings. Wider spread than 6-head; same drop height, so no additional ceiling clearance required.

9 Heads

31.4" × 22.8"

Taller-drop variant of the 8-head configuration — for rooms with 10-ft-plus ceilings, staircase applications, and dining rooms where a longer vertical descent reads more architectural. Nine heads in a two-tier composition.

12 Heads ★

38.5" × 22.8"

The statement specification — double-height foyers, 8-12-seat dining tables, hotel lobbies, restaurant flagship rooms, showroom applications. Twelve ceramic-copper-glass groupings in a two-tier architectural composition. Requires 10-ft-plus ceilings.

Rooms

Where the Vico Gingko belongs.

Mid-century dining rooms.

8 heads above 6-seat tables; 9 heads above 6-8-seat tables in rooms with taller ceilings; 12 heads above oversized tables (8-12 seats). Hang bulbs 30-36 inches above the tabletop. The three-material composition reads warmest against walnut dining furniture — brass hardware on the room's other pieces pairs with the copper branches.

Primary bedrooms.

6 heads above king beds in average bedrooms; 8 heads in generous primary bedrooms with 9-ft-plus ceilings. The frosted-glass shades diffuse the warm bulb output into ambient bedroom warmth — no direct-glare bulb visible from bed level. Dim for evening use to unlock the fixture's most considered register.

Statement foyers & staircases.

9 heads or 12 heads in double-height foyers and open staircase applications. The vertical drop reads architectural rather than decorative; the two-tier composition holds vertical space that shorter chandeliers cannot. Rod is customisable — write to us before ordering if you need a longer drop than the standard 19-inch total.

Hospitality & commercial statement.

12 heads in hotel lobbies, restaurant flagship rooms, showroom flagship spaces, coworking meeting-room installations. The three-material composition scales cleanly to hospitality diameter; matched-batch coordination for multi-fixture installations available. This is the size for applications where the chandelier is meant to define the room.

Questions

Which size for my room?

6 Heads (23.6"⌀) — bedrooms with 9-ft-plus ceilings, small dining rooms (4-seat tables), intimate foyers. The residential entry choice. 8 Heads (31.4"⌀) — the proportional default: primary bedrooms, 6-seat dining, standard foyers with 9-ft ceilings. This is the most-specified residential size. 9 Heads (31.4"⌀ × 22.8"H) — taller-drop variant for 10-ft-plus ceilings, staircase applications, generous dining rooms. Same width as 8 heads but with longer vertical descent. 12 Heads (38.5"⌀ × 22.8"H) — statement scale: double-height foyers, 8-12-seat dining tables, hotel lobbies, commercial applications. Requires 10-ft-plus ceilings.

Is my ceiling high enough?

Minimum ceilings by size: 6 heads and 8 heads (14.9"H) — 9-ft ceilings work well. 9 heads and 12 heads (22.8"H) — 10-ft ceilings are the minimum; 11-ft-plus is preferred. For dining rooms specifically, the standard rule is 30-36 inches from tabletop to lowest bulb. For foyers and staircases, 7-8 ft floor clearance. The standard 19-inch total rod is adjustable; if you need a longer drop for a double-height foyer or a shorter drop for a lower-clearance room, custom rod length is available at no extra charge — write to support@stuberlighting.com with your ceiling-to-floor measurement before ordering.

Vico Chandelier or Gingko Ceiling Lamp — which?

Both are from our Ginkgo Series and share the botanical-leaf design vocabulary; the fixture types are entirely different. Gingko Ceiling Lamp is a semi-flush ceiling fixture — sits against the ceiling with a 9.8-inch profile, correct for standard 8-ft residential ceilings, no rod drop. Porcelain leaves on polished-gold branches, no frosted-glass shades, four sizes from 14.2" to 24.4". Vico Gingko Chandelier is a chandelier with a 19-inch adjustable rod drop — correct for 9-ft-plus ceilings, dining rooms, foyers, staircase applications. Three-material composition (bone porcelain + H65 copper + frosted glass), G9 bulbs housed in frosted-glass shades. If your ceiling is 8 ft, choose the Gingko Ceiling Lamp; if 9 ft or higher, the Vico is the more architectural specification.

Is installation difficult?

Honestly: yes, more than most ceiling fixtures. The ceramic petals and frosted-glass shades ship packed separately from the copper branches for safe transit — they attach one by one at installation, which adds 45-60 minutes to the process beyond the wiring itself. We strongly recommend a licensed electrician for the full install, particularly for the 12-head XL where the fixture's weight requires proper junction-box anchoring. The rod length is adjustable at installation to match your ceiling height. Once installed, the fixture is stable and requires no further adjustment.

Can I dim it?

Yes — strongly recommended, particularly for the 8/9/12-head configurations. The included G9 LED bulbs are non-dimmable warm-white. To enable dimming: replace all bulbs with dimmable G9 LEDs (widely available, $10-18 each) and install a compatible triac wall dimmer. At 40-60% brightness, the frosted-glass shades produce their most atmospheric register — the warm bulb output diffuses through the glass into soft ambient warmth, the copper branches catch subtle reflection, and the fixture becomes the evening-atmospheric statement the tradition intends.

How do I clean three materials at once?

Each material has its own cleaning register. Porcelain petals: dust with a soft dry microfibre cloth every 2-3 months; for accumulated residue, a lightly-damp cloth (water only) restores the soft-matte finish. H65 copper branches: wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to preserve the sealed patina; avoid brass polish or copper cleaner (which strip the protective sealing). Frosted-glass shades: individual shades can be gently unscrewed from the sockets for deep cleaning at a sink; use warm water and mild dish soap, dry thoroughly before re-installation. Avoid abrasive sponges throughout — they scratch all three materials.

Are the ceramic petals fragile?

Bone porcelain is durable enough for indoor decorative applications but can chip if impacted directly. This is why the petals ship packed separately from the copper branches — transit is the most common cause of ceramic damage. Once installed above head-height on the ceiling, the petals are out of any normal-use impact range. If a petal or glass shade ever chips or breaks in service, replacement parts are available — write to support@stuberlighting.com with your fixture SKU. Do not install below 8-ft head clearance where the fixture could be brushed against.

Hospitality-scale and commercial orders?

Yes — the 12-head Vico is our primary specification for boutique hospitality and commercial statement applications. Hotel lobbies, restaurant flagship rooms, boutique retail showrooms, coworking flagship spaces, and any application requiring architectural three-material composition. Custom rod lengths, matched-batch porcelain coordination for multi-fixture installations, and interior-designer trade pricing available. Please note that installation takes 45-60 minutes per unit — plan installation labour accordingly. Write to support@stuberlighting.com with your project brief.

"The Vico Gingko is what happens when you take the ceiling variant of a botanical tradition and give it a rod drop and a set of frosted-glass shades. Three materials working together, calibrated to read as one composed object rather than as three separate registers. Four sizes because dining tables, primary bedrooms, foyers, and hospitality installations all have their own scale. The second in our Ginkgo Series, and the more architectural one."
