One arm. Every direction. Mid-Century, refined.
The Vega is a Mid-Century-modern floor lamp built around three core ideas: a tapered tripod base for stability, a long slender steel arm for reach, and a swiveling reflector shade for task-precise directional light. The brass pivot joint allows the arm to rotate horizontally; the shade tilts independently. Set it next to a reading chair, point the head exactly where you read; turn it across the room and the same lamp lights a desk corner instead.
62.9 inches tall — sized for living rooms, home offices, and reading corners where standard floor lamps feel short. Matte black metal frame with brass joint hardware; aluminum reflector painted black outside, white inside to maximize light output. Plug-in installation — no electrician needed; 59-inch cord with inline switch.
Multi-directional arm rotation
Brass pivot joint allows the arm to swivel horizontally; reflector head tilts vertically. Point the light over a reading chair, redirect to a desk, swing it back to wash a corner. One lamp, multiple positions throughout the day.
Tripod base — stable, sculptural
Three-legged tapered base in matte black metal. Wide enough to anchor the long arm without tipping; small enough in footprint not to crowd narrow spaces. Reads architectural rather than utilitarian.
Black exterior, white interior reflector
The aluminum reflector is painted matte black on the outside and white on the inside — the white inner surface amplifies the bulb's brightness while the black exterior keeps the silhouette graphic and contained.
Plug-in installation — no electrician
59-inch power cord with inline push-button switch. No wiring, no hardwiring, no contractor. Plug it in, position it, switch it on. E26 base accepts standard LED or filament bulbs.
The case for graphic floor lighting
Most floor lamps are visually soft — fabric drum shades, neutral metal stems, the goal being to disappear into the room. The Vega is the opposite. The matte black frame, the long angular arm, the reflector head — these are graphic elements, meant to read as a line drawing in the room. Some rooms want their floor lamp to disappear; some rooms want it to make a sculptural statement. The Vega is for the second kind. The Mid-Century black tripod silhouette has been instantly recognizable in modernist interiors for seventy years because the shape itself is the design.
Where the Vega earns its keep
Next to a reading chair — point the arm over the chair seat; the directional reflector beam delivers task-quality light without lighting the whole room.
Behind a sofa, corner-positioned — long arm reaches over the back of the sofa to light the seating area without taking floor space in front.
Modern living room or family room — the matte black silhouette adds graphic contrast to neutral and white rooms; reads as sculpture as much as fixture.
Home office or studio — point the head over the desk surface for task light; redirect when the desk is unused.
Hotel lobby, restaurant, gallery — the long sculptural form scales from residential to commercial without changing in identity.

For the warmest reading-corner glow, pair with a 2700K-3000K LED bulb. For brighter task lighting, a 3500K-4000K bulb intensifies the directional beam.
The brass pivot joint is designed to hold position by friction; do not over-tighten or force the arm beyond its natural rotation range.
Safety tested for indoor use in dry locations. Meets technical requirements for North American residential lighting installations.
Frequently Asked Questions
How exactly does the arm adjust? +
The brass pivot joint at the top of the upright lets the arm swivel horizontally — point it forward, sideways, or backward across the room. The reflector head itself also tilts vertically at its own joint, so you can angle the light up toward a ceiling for ambient wash, or down toward a chair seat for focused reading light. Both joints hold position by friction; just move the arm by hand to where you want it, and it stays.
The lamp doesn't include a bulb. What should I use? +
The E26 socket accepts any standard household bulb. For a warm Mid-Century reading-corner glow, use a 2700K-3000K LED bulb (60W equivalent is plenty). For brighter task lighting at a desk, step up to 3500K-4000K. Clear filament Edison bulbs work especially well visually — the visible filament reads instantly modernist behind the open reflector. Avoid 5000K+ "daylight" bulbs; the cool blue tone fights the matte black frame.
Is the tripod base stable with the long arm extended? +
Yes. The base is 17.7 inches wide at its three-leg footprint and weighted to counterbalance the arm at full extension. The arm doesn't extend so far that it tips the lamp under normal use. That said, like any tall floor lamp, place it in a low-traffic area — not directly in a walking path — and keep pets and small children in mind during placement. The cord runs from the base, so no awkward overhead wiring.
