Most floor lamps light the room. This one lights what you're doing.
The problem with a conventional floor lamp is geometry. It stands where the furniture lets it stand — usually beside an armchair, usually a foot too far away — and throws light in a cone that mostly misses the thing you're actually looking at. You end up either squinting or dragging the whole lamp across the rug.
A swing arm solves it by separating where the lamp stands from where the light lands. The base tucks behind or beside the furniture, out of the walkway. The arm pivots at the joint and carries the shade out over the seat, the book, the desk, the crib. Move the arm, not the lamp.
The Snodo keeps the hardware honest about that: a slim metal upright, a visible jointed arm, a tapered fabric shade that softens the output without hiding it. Nothing styled to look like something it isn't. In the taller version the arm clears the back of a full sofa entirely — which is the single most useful thing a floor lamp can do in an American living room where nobody has room for another side table.

The two heights aren't just big and small — they do different jobs. Pick by where you want the shade to end up, not by how tall your room is.
Version One · Compact
65.7in
L 7.9" × H 65.7" · 20 × 167 cm
Roughly standing eye level. The arm reaches 7.9 inches out — enough to clear the arm of a chair and put the shade directly beside your shoulder. This is the reading-chair version, and the one for bedrooms where a lamp beside the bed replaces the nightstand you don't have.
Best for: armchairs, recliners, bedsides, home offices, apartments, rooms with 8-foot ceilings.
Version Two · Overhead
95.7in
L 17.7" × H 95.7" · 45 × 243 cm
Nearly eight feet tall with a 17.7-inch reach. This is the one that stands behind a sofa and brings the shade out over the seat cushions — overhead reading light with no side table, no ceiling work, no electrician. It also holds its own visually in a room with a tall ceiling, where a short lamp reads lost.
Best for: sofas and sectionals, open-plan living rooms, ceilings 9 feet and up, double-height spaces, statement corners.
Ceiling height rule of thumb: the 95.7-inch version needs a minimum 9-foot ceiling to sit comfortably — under that it reads crowded. Standard 8-foot ceilings should take the 65.7-inch version.

Frame & Arm
Metal.
The upright, the arm and the base are metal throughout — no plastic joints, which is what lets the arm hold its angle instead of drifting downward over a few months. The base is weighted to counter the reach of the arm; the taller version needs that mass, and it's the reason the lamp doesn't feel tippy once it's standing.
Shade
Fabric.
A tapered fabric drum diffuses the bulb so you get a warm even wash rather than a hard edge, and it closes off the top so nothing collects inside the shade the way it does in an open metal cone. Dust it with a lint roller or a soft brush attachment; don't wet-clean the fabric.
Where It Lives
Six places the arm earns its keep.
The base needs roughly a 12-inch square of floor. Everything else is the arm's problem, not yours.

Behind the sofa.
The 95.7-inch version's whole reason for existing. Base tucked behind the sofa back, arm swung out over the cushions. You get direct reading light on a sectional that has nowhere to put a table, and the floor stays clear.

Beside the reading chair.
The compact version stands just behind the shoulder of an armchair or recliner, arm angled in over the book. Light comes from behind and above, which is where it should come from for reading — no glare on a glossy page, no shadow from your own hands.

Bedside, without a nightstand.
In a small bedroom where the bed nearly fills the wall, the compact version stands in the gap and swings the shade over the pillow. It frees up whatever surface you do have, and the inline switch sits on the cord within reach from the bed.

Home office & desk.
Stands on the floor beside the desk and brings light over the work surface without eating any of it — no clamp, no footprint on the desktop, nothing to knock over during a call. Swing it away when you're on camera and the frame stays clean.

Dead corners & hallways.
The corner behind a chair, the end of a long hallway, the awkward angle by the entry bench — places with no outlet overhead and no surface for a lamp. The narrow base fits where furniture won't, and the arm pushes the light out into the room rather than onto the wall.

Setup
Assembles in about twenty minutes.
Bulb Included
Your Snodo ships with the bulb already installed.
A standard non-dimmable warm white LED bulb (2700K, E26 base) comes pre-installed. Assemble, plug in, press the switch. Nothing to buy separately before your first evening with it.
Step One
Join the upright sections and thread them into the weighted base. The upright arrives in segments so the box stays shippable.
Step Two
Fit the arm to the top of the upright, then seat the shade over the socket. No tools needed — every connection is threaded by hand.
Step Three
Route the 78-inch cord along the baseboard and plug in. AC 110–240V, so it runs on US household current without a converter.
If You Want Dimming
Swap the included bulb for a dimmable E26 LED and add a plug-in dimmer adapter at the outlet — both stocked at any US hardware store. Max 40W per socket.
One Thing Worth Doing Right
Tighten every threaded joint fully before you stand the lamp up. The shade and arm carry real weight at the top, and a section left even slightly loose will let the upright lean out of true. It takes an extra thirty seconds during assembly and is the difference between a pole that reads dead straight and one that doesn't. If you notice a lean after the fact, lay the lamp down, snug each joint, and stand it back up — nothing is damaged.

Quick check before you order: measure your ceiling first — 8-foot ceilings take the compact version, 9-foot and above take the overhead. Then leave a 12-inch square of clear floor for the base and roughly the arm's reach of clearance on the side you want it to swing toward. If the lamp will stand behind a sofa, measure from the wall to the sofa back; you need about 10 inches for the base to sit flat.

Which height should I order?⌬
Decide by ceiling height and by what the arm needs to reach over. 65.7 inches is the everyday version — it stands beside an armchair, a bed or a desk and works under a standard 8-foot ceiling. 95.7 inches is nearly 8 feet tall with a 17.7-inch reach, and it exists to clear the back of a sofa and put light over the seat. It needs a 9-foot ceiling minimum and looks best in rooms with 9-to-12-foot ceilings or double-height spaces. If your ceiling is 8 feet, order the compact version — the tall one will feel crowded no matter how good it looks in photos.
Does it come with a bulb?⌬
Yes — pre-installed. Every Snodo ships with a standard non-dimmable warm white LED bulb (2700K, E26 base) already fitted. Nothing to buy separately. When you eventually replace it, any E26 or E27 LED rated at 40W-equivalent or below will fit — these are the most common bulb bases in the US and are stocked at Home Depot, Lowe's and Amazon. Do not exceed Max 40W per socket.
How hard is the assembly?⌬
Straightforward — roughly twenty minutes, no tools. The upright arrives in threaded sections that screw together into the weighted base, then the arm fits on top and the shade seats over the socket. The one thing that matters: tighten every joint fully before standing the lamp upright. The arm and shade carry weight at the top, and a section left even slightly loose will let the upright lean. If you notice a lean afterward, lay the lamp down, snug each connection and stand it back up. Nothing is damaged and it takes a minute.
Is it stable, or will it tip when the arm is extended?⌬
The base is weighted specifically to counter the reach of the arm, and the lamp stands securely on a flat floor with the arm fully extended. Two practical notes: set it on hard flooring or a flat low-pile rug rather than a thick shag where the base can't sit level, and if you have young children or large dogs, position it where the cord and upright aren't in a traffic path. As with any tall floor lamp, it isn't designed to be leaned on or pulled by the shade.
How does the arm adjust?⌬
The arm pivots at the joint where it meets the upright, so you swing it by hand to aim the shade where you want the light. The metal-on-metal joint holds its position rather than drifting under the weight of the shade — that's the practical reason the whole assembly is metal rather than plastic. Reposition it as often as you like; move the arm rather than dragging the base across the floor.
Can I dim it?⌬
Not as shipped — the included bulb is non-dimmable and the switch is a simple inline on/off push button. To add dimming: replace the bulb with a dimmable E26 LED and add a plug-in dimmer adapter between the plug and the outlet. Both are widely available at any US hardware store. Keep the replacement at or under Max 40W. Note that a wall dimmer won't control this lamp, since it plugs into a standard outlet rather than being hardwired.
Where is the switch, and can the cord be longer?⌬
The switch is an inline push button on the cord rather than on the lamp body, so you don't have to reach up to the shade to turn it on. The standard cord is 78 inches, which covers most placements along a wall. How do I clean the fabric shade?⌬
Dust it with a lint roller or the soft brush attachment on a vacuum, going gently in one direction. Don't wet-clean the fabric or use fabric spray — moisture can mark the material and leave a ring you can't undo. For the metal frame and arm, a dry or barely damp microfiber cloth is enough; skip solvents and abrasive cleaners. Always unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool before cleaning anything near the socket.
