The Sinuo Table Lamp is the mid-scale sibling in our expanding Squiggle family — larger and more decorative than the compact Onda Table Lamp, smaller and more tabletop-friendly than the Onda Floor Lamp. Its sculptural squiggle-shaped black metal base rises through multiple undulating S-curves to support a classic fabric drum shade above, with three colour pairs to choose from: Black+Beige for warm neutral, Black+White for graphic minimal, or Black+Dark Green for bold saturated statement. Sized at ⌀ 17" × H 23.6" for larger bedside tables, side tables, entryway consoles, dressing vanities, and home-office desks. Ships with a warm-white LED bulb (E14) pre-fitted. The Sinuo occupies the productive middle ground of our Squiggle-family register — larger and more visually present than a small bedside lamp, but still compact enough to sit on a tabletop rather than the floor. At ⌀ 17" × H 23.6", the fixture reads as considered sculptural anchor on the surface below: the multi-curve black-metal squiggle base rises from a compact weighted footplate through undulating S-crests to the shade harp above, catching ambient room light at each wave peak and casting quiet shadow into each trough. This is a table lamp for tables where a lamp should hold visual attention — larger bedside nightstands, generous side tables, dressing vanities, entryway consoles — rather than for cramped surfaces where the lamp should quietly recede.
The design lineage draws on 1980s postmodernism — the Memphis-Group-era Italian vernacular that treated household objects as playful expressive form rather than pure Modernist function. The Sinuo updates that vernacular for contemporary interiors by pairing the postmodern squiggle impulse with a restrained material palette: matte-black powder-coated steel + natural fabric drum shade rather than saturated primary colours + laminate. The result reads as considered mid-century-adjacent statement rather than as costume-y period reference — appropriate for modern interiors specifying design-forward character without committing to pure Memphis-era vocabulary.
Where the smaller Onda Table Lamp commits to a single Black+White-Linen combination for bedside coordination, the Sinuo offers three colour pairs — Black+Beige for the warmest neutral, Black+White for the most graphic minimal, or Black+Dark Green for the most saturated statement — letting you match the fixture to the room's palette rather than the other way around. The base remains fixed matte black across all three pairs; only the shade colour changes.

The warm neutral choice — the beige fabric's natural weave tone catches E14 warm-white bulb light in the most atmospheric register. The safest and most universally flattering of the three pairs.

The graphic minimal choice — high-contrast composition where the black base and white shade read as considered two-tone drawing. White fabric recedes into light-toned walls, letting the black squiggle base register as primary graphic mark. Every Sinuo Table Lamp is assembled by hand from two primary components. The squiggle base is precision-bent steel with matte-black powder-coat finish — the metal is formed into its undulating multi-curve profile via calibrated jigs, ensuring the vertical S-curves remain structurally rigid over the 23.6" rise while allowing subtle handcraft variation in the exact wave angles. Powder-coat finish is chosen over paint or lacquer for durability against daily contact, moisture-resistance for humid interior conditions, and colour-stability without fading over years of use. The fabric drum shade is woven textile fitted over a fine internal metal shade frame — natural fibre catches E14 warm-white bulb light in warm diffused ambient character. Three shade colours available at checkout (Beige, White, Dark Green); all pair with the same matte-black squiggle base.
Power delivery is via a 59.1" (150 cm) cord with in-line push-button switch — press once to turn on, press again to turn off. Compatible with AC 110-240V household current worldwide via your selected plug type at checkout. The included warm-white LED bulb (E14, 2700K, non-dimmable) is pre-fitted and ready to use — plug the cord into any standard wall outlet, press the switch, and the lamp works.

All three share the same postmodern squiggle-base design language at different scales. Sinuo Table (this fixture) — mid-scale tabletop statement, ⌀ 17" × H 23.6", multi-curve squiggle + fabric drum shade in 3 pairs (Black+Beige/White/Dark Green). Correct for larger bedside nightstands, generous side tables, entryway consoles, dressing vanities. Onda Table Lamp — compact bedside piece, ⌀ 14.1" × H 18.5", single-crest squiggle + hand-pleated white linen shade, fixed Black+White. Correct for smaller bedside tables and compact side tables. About the included bulb — and can I upgrade? 〰
Bulb included. Every Sinuo Table Lamp ships with a standard non-dimmable warm-white LED bulb pre-fitted in the E14 socket, calibrated to 2700K for correct warm-glow character through the fabric drum shade. Plug into the wall, press the inline switch, and the lamp works — no separate bulb purchase required. If you want to upgrade: the E14 socket accepts any standard E14 bulb (smaller-diameter candelabra base — not the larger E26/E27). For dimming, swap in a dimmable E14 warm-white LED. For vintage character, an E14 filament Edison bulb provides amber warm tones that pair particularly well with Black+Beige or Black+Dark Green pairs. Widely available at Home Depot, IKEA, Amazon, and any lighting retailer. Maximum 40W.
Can I buy two for a matched bedside pair? 〰
Yes — the Sinuo is particularly effective as a matched bedside pair. Because each fixture is hand-assembled, individual units will show subtle variation in wave angles and shade fitment — this is characteristic of handmade production and reads as considered craft rather than as manufacturing defect. If you require particularly close matching between two units, request "matched-batch pair" at checkout in the order notes, or email support@stuberlighting.com before placing the order — we pull both units from the same production batch to minimize between-unit variation. No additional charge for matched-batch pairing.
Is the fixture stable? Will the squiggle base tip? 〰
The squiggle base terminates in a weighted stabilising footplate that anchors the fixture to the tabletop — engineered heavy enough to counterbalance the multi-curve column and hold the fixture stable through daily use. The undulating S-curves are decorative in character but structural in engineering, maintaining rigidity across the full 23.6" vertical rise without visible reinforcement. The lamp will not tip when brushed against or when the shade is gently adjusted. Place the footplate flush on a flat solid surface (not on folded doilies or uneven tabletop cloth), position at least 4-6" back from the tabletop edge, and supervise around small children or large dogs.
Can I dim it? 〰
Yes with the correct combination. The pre-fitted bulb is non-dimmable, and the inline switch on the cord operates as on/off only. For dimming, swap the included bulb for a dimmable E14 warm-white LED bulb (widely available; check package for "dimmable" label), and plug the lamp into a wall outlet controlled by a triac-compatible wall dimmer (Lutron Diva and Caseta triac dimmers are known LED-compatible). At 40-60% brightness the fabric drum shade catches light at its most atmospheric register — particularly correct for bedside evening use.
Does the squiggle base echo any specific historical designer piece? 〰
The Sinuo draws on the broader 1980s postmodern design vernacular associated with the Memphis Group (founded by Ettore Sottsass in Milan in 1981) and adjacent postmodern movements of the era. The Sinuo is not, however, an interpretation of any single specific Memphis Group piece by Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, George Sowden, or the other Memphis designers. Nor is it a reissue authorised by the Memphis Milano archive. It is an independent original design drawing on the era's broader postmodern impulse, updated with a restrained material palette (matte black + natural fabric rather than saturated primary-colour laminates). How do I clean and maintain the fixture? 〰
Powder-coated squiggle base: wipe with soft dry microfibre cloth for regular dust; for stubborn marks, slightly damp microfibre with mild dish soap solution then dry immediately. Powder-coat finish resists fingerprints and scratches in normal conditions. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based products, or acetone solvents. Fabric drum shade: gently vacuum with a fabric-brush attachment on lowest suction setting to remove dust every 3-6 months. For spot marks or stains, gentle spot-clean with dry-cleaning solvent applied via clean white cloth, blotted gently — do not rub. Never machine-wash or soak in water. For heavily soiled shades, professional shade cleaning is recommended.
Can I use this in a bathroom, powder room, or covered outdoor space? 〰
No — indoor dry locations only. The Sinuo is rated IP20, providing no protection against sustained moisture. The fabric shade in particular is vulnerable to humidity (moisture will discolour and warp fabric, damage internal shade frame). Never install in bathrooms (steam damage), powder rooms with significant shower proximity, covered outdoor patios, or enclosed pool areas. Correct locations: bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, entryway foyers, hallways, home offices, and boutique-hospitality guest rooms with normal residential humidity levels.
