MURANO GLASS · N°08 · PYRAMID
Red glass,
architecturally arranged.
Sixty individual discs of hand-blown red Murano glass, arranged in a five-tier pyramid silhouette around a metal frame. The form is architectural rather than decorative — a piece of sculpture that also happens to be a chandelier. Bold, considered, and unmistakably French in its lineage. Bulbs included.

The rare colour choice
I · The silhouette
Why pyramid.
Most tiered chandeliers taper outward as they descend — wider at the bottom than at the top, mimicking the shape of a cascading fountain or a wedding cake. The Ruby does the opposite. Each tier is smaller than the one above it, forming a five-tier pyramid silhouette that reads as architectural rather than ornamental.
This inversion changes how the fixture behaves in the room. A conventional tiered chandelier draws the eye outward and downward, softening space. A pyramid draws the eye inward and upward, focusing space. The Ruby is designed to be a point in the room rather than a spread of decoration — an object with clear proportional logic, in the tradition of French mid-century designers who understood that a chandelier's silhouette is architecture at ceiling scale.
II · The count
Sixty discs, individually blown.
Sixty pieces of hand-blown red Murano glass. Each disc is shaped in the molten state by a glassblower, coloured with gold chloride at the melt stage (the traditional colourant for true Venetian ruby glass), then cooled slowly and hand-mounted onto the pyramid frame in a specific position that respects the tier geometry.
Sixty is a deliberate number. Enough to give the pyramid density from every angle — no visual gaps where a tier reads as under-populated. Few enough that each individual disc still reads as a distinct handmade object rather than dissolving into an anonymous curtain of glass. This is the correct count for the form, and it is the number the fixture has been designed around from the beginning.
III · The colour
The colour few chandeliers choose.
Red is the colour high-end residential chandeliers rarely go. Most fixture designers hedge — clear, amber, smoke, pale pink — colours that flatter almost any interior. Red demands the interior meet it on its own terms. The Ruby is designed for the rooms that do exactly that.
The specific hue is deep, warm, and slightly ambered — closer to burgundy or true French bistro red than to fire-engine red. Under warm bulbs, the glass reads as ruby-wine; under cooler lighting, as cardinal-red. Cast through the discs, the light warms the entire room by several degrees of colour temperature — an atmospheric effect no clear-glass chandelier can produce.
Where red belongs
Choose Ruby if your room can hold it.
The Ruby is not the safe choice. It belongs in rooms that already have confident personality: warm-traditional interiors with walnut and velvet, French bistro-style dining rooms, editorial modernist rooms that use a single bold colour as an anchor. In neutral or minimalist rooms, the Ruby reads over-loud rather than considered. Choose it deliberately or choose a different fixture — this is not a neutral piece.
IV · The scale
A statement, deliberately sized.
The Ruby is produced in a single size — 29.5 inches in diameter, 22.8 inches in height. The proportion is deliberate: substantial enough to anchor a large dining room, grand foyer, or statement living-room ceiling; large enough for hospitality-scale interiors when specified for restaurants and bars. This is not an accent fixture.

| Suggested rooms | Large dining · grand foyer · statement living · French-bistro hospitality |
| Not suited to | Neutral / minimalist interiors · bedrooms · small dining rooms |

Standard 19-inch chain, adjustable. Custom lengths available at no extra charge for reasonable extensions — write to service@stuberlighting.com with your ceiling-to-floor measurement and desired hanging height before ordering.
V · The craft
Considered, throughout.
Bulbs included.
The Ruby ships with its complete set of E14 warm-white LED bulbs. 2700K warm-white is chosen deliberately: it's the temperature that reads red glass as ruby-wine rather than as flat crimson. Fully dimmable-compatible if you swap to dimmable E14 LEDs and pair with a triac wall dimmer — at 40-60% brightness, the ruby glass reads at its most atmospheric.
Metal frame.
The frame supports the pyramid geometry — precision-engineered so each disc sits at its correct position. Metal finish is a warm neutral that reads as background to the ruby glass rather than competing with it, letting the colour and form be the visual event.
Adjustable chain.
Standard 19-inch chain, adjustable. For double-height foyers, staircase installations, or vaulted rooms, custom longer lengths are available at no extra charge — write to service@stuberlighting.com before ordering with your ceiling-to-floor and desired hanging height.
Individual variation.
Each of the sixty discs is hand-blown, one at a time — subtle differences in curvature, thickness, and red-hue intensity remain by design. Your Ruby will be subtly different from photographs and from every other Ruby produced. This is hand-blown work's signature; machine-pressed uniformity would signal a different production method entirely.
VI · Where it belongs
Rooms that ask for a point of view.
A large French-bistro-style dining room — this is the Ruby's most obvious home. Over a walnut table with brass hardware and velvet chairs, the pyramid silhouette anchors the room and the ruby glass gives the light temperature that no clear-glass fixture can. Particularly effective over dining tables that host guests for hours rather than minutes.
A grand foyer or entry vestibule — hung from an extended chain to fill the vertical space. The pyramid silhouette rewards being viewed from multiple angles as guests approach the space; the ruby colour signals "this is a house with personality" the moment someone walks in.
A statement living room — over the primary seating group in a room with confident traditional or French-vintage character. The Ruby fits alongside walnut, cognac leather, velvet, brass hardware, and dark-stained wood; it fits alongside oil-painted portraits and framed vintage prints; it does not fit alongside minimalism or blond-wood Scandinavian palettes.
A French-bistro or wine-bar hospitality installation — the Ruby is designed for commercial scale. Restaurants, wine bars, hotel dining rooms, and boutique-hospitality projects specify red glass fixtures for the atmospheric temperature they add. For multi-fixture coordinated projects, matched-batch glass is available.

VIII · Questions
Is red too bold for my room? ▲
Possibly. The Ruby is designed for rooms that can carry a red statement — French-vintage dining rooms, warm-traditional interiors with walnut and velvet, editorial modernist rooms that anchor themselves around a single bold colour, French-bistro hospitality installations. In neutral, minimalist, or Scandinavian-blond interiors, the Ruby will read over-loud rather than considered. If your room's existing palette is cool-toned or restrained, the Bianca in Blue (coastal-modern) or the Rosalia (romantic-pink accent) will fit better; the Ruby needs a room that already has personality.
Which size for my dining table? ▲
The Ruby is designed for statement-scale rooms — 29.5" diameter × 22.8" height. As a rule: the chandelier diameter should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of the dining table below it. So the Ruby fits well over tables 45–55 inches wide (10-12 seaters). Hang the lowest disc 30–36 inches above the table surface. For 6-seater or smaller dining rooms, choose the Bianca Small (30 pieces) or Calanthe Petal Bloom Small instead — the Ruby will read over-scaled at that size. The Ruby is also appropriate for grand foyers, statement living rooms, and hospitality installations where 29.5" reads correctly.
Is the glass genuinely Murano? ▲
The Ruby is produced using Murano-tradition technique — hand-blown, batch-coloured glass with gold chloride (the traditional colourant for true Venetian ruby glass), one disc at a time. We are transparent about the distinction in fine residential lighting between certified-Murano (from designated Italian houses, priced at $8,000+ per fixture) and Murano-technique pieces (produced in equally qualified glassblowing studios). The Ruby is the latter — true hand-blown red art glass, faithful to the Venetian tradition, accessibly priced. If certification is critical for your commercial or institutional application, we recommend purchasing from a certified Murano house directly.
Will every disc match exactly? ▲
No — hand-blown glass carries the trace of the person who made it. Each of the sixty discs varies subtly in curvature, thickness, and red-hue intensity. Some discs will read deeper burgundy, others lighter garnet; some will show natural interior bubble patterns that pressed glass eliminates. Your Ruby will be subtly different from photographs and from every other Ruby produced. This is the material's signature. For multi-fixture installations (hospitality projects, coordinated dining + foyer pairs), matched-batch material is available — write to service@stuberlighting.com before ordering.
Can I dim it? ▲
Yes — strongly recommended for atmospheric use. The included E14 LED bulbs are non-dimmable warm-white. To enable dimming: replace with dimmable E14 LEDs (widely available, $8-15 each) and wire through a compatible triac wall dimmer. At 40-60% brightness, the ruby glass reads at its most atmospheric — closer to firelight through wine than to modern electric light. For French-bistro dining rooms and evening dinner service, dimming is not optional — it is what makes the Ruby work as an atmospheric fixture rather than as ordinary illumination.
Hospitality-scale orders? ▲
Yes — the Ruby is designed for commercial-scale specification. Restaurants (particularly French-bistro concepts), wine bars, hotel dining rooms, and boutique-hospitality projects that want the atmospheric temperature of red glass at scale: coordinated matched-batch material, extended lead times for larger orders, and interior-designer trade pricing are all available. Write to service@stuberlighting.com with your project brief — installation count, timeline, and any custom specification. We coordinate directly with our atelier for hospitality projects.
"We chose red because most designers won't. A chandelier that requires the room to meet it on its own terms is a chandelier for rooms that have opinions. The Ruby is not neutral, and it is not for everyone — which is exactly why the rooms that want it, want it precisely."
