Depends on how bright you set it. The 2000 mAh battery runs approximately 3 hours at the brightest setting (fully-bright cool 6000K) and up to 8 hours at the lowest setting (dim warm 3000K). Most real-world use falls in between — a typical evening reading session at mid-brightness runs about 5-6 hours. Full recharge from empty takes approximately 5 hours via the included USB cable. The battery does not need to be fully depleted before recharging — partial top-ups are fine and won't damage the cell.

The touch sensor is on top of the pear-shaped shade. First tap: turns on to Warm 3000K. Second tap: switches to Neutral 4500K. Third tap: switches to Cool 6000K. Fourth tap: turns off. Each color temperature is also dimmable — a longer touch-and-hold gesture adjusts brightness up or down within the current color mode. The sensor responds to a light finger tap; no pressure required. If you have wet or gloved hands, gently dry them or remove the glove — the sensor uses capacitive touch which won't respond through thick fabric.

Yes — the Nashi operates normally while plugged into the USB charging cable. Use it plugged in when you want continuous unlimited runtime (e.g., permanent bedside placement near an outlet) or use it unplugged for portable cordless use. Charging while lit will take somewhat longer than charging while off (the battery is simultaneously supplying the LED), but it's fully supported and won't damage the battery. The charging port is designed to accept the cable in the base for a clean cord-free tabletop appearance while charging.

Integrated LED, no bulb replacement. The 3-color LED module is engineered into the fixture and calibrated for the specific optics of the pear-shaped glass shade. This is intentional — an integrated LED module allows the touch-controlled color-cycling and dimming to work seamlessly, which a socket-and-bulb design cannot easily do. The LED module is rated for 50,000+ hours of use (approximately 15-20 years at typical 8-hour daily use), so bulb replacement should never be needed within a normal ownership period. White — clean crisp modern-contemporary choice. Reads as considered pure form against pale walls, correct for Scandinavian, minimalist, and modern-contemporary interiors. The most graphic of the two. Cream — warm vintage-inspired choice. Reads softer and more decoratively present, correct for Japandi, wabi-sabi, mid-century modern, and interiors with wood floors and warm textiles. Catches the 3000K warm light setting particularly beautifully — the warm bulb temperature reads warmer through the cream glass than through the white. Choose White for cool modern; Cream for warm cozy.

Dry outdoor conditions only. The Nashi is IP20-rated for indoor dry locations, which means it's safe on covered patios, balconies, and screened porches in dry weather, but not for extended outdoor use, rain exposure, or humid conditions. For summer evening dinners on a covered patio: yes, bring it out. For camping trips, backyard picnics in unpredictable weather, or outdoor events during humid nights: only if you can guarantee dry conditions and immediately bring it indoors if weather changes. Never leave it outdoors overnight or during rain — the battery, electronics, and touch sensor are not weatherproof.

The 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated for approximately 500-1000 charge cycles before capacity begins to degrade noticeably (this is standard for lithium-ion cells). At typical daily use of one full-charge-cycle every 2-3 days, that translates to roughly 3-6 years of daily use before capacity drops to ~80% of new. After that point, runtime per charge will gradually decrease — at capacity levels around 60-70%, battery replacement becomes worth considering.
