Asian Form · Contemporary Light
A shell, suspended
in a ring of gold.
The Marisa reimagines the silhouette of the classic Asian conical hat — a wide, shallow disc of natural Capiz shell hovering within a fine gold ring. It is less a chandelier than a held gesture: structure and stillness, the curve of the cord the only motion.
The form began with a hat.
Across East and Southeast Asia, the conical woven hat has been worn for centuries — by farmers in the rice paddies, by fishermen on the water, by travelers on the road. Its geometry is purely functional: a wide brim to shed rain and shade the sun, a shallow cone that sits lightly. But seen from below, lifted into the air and lit from within, that same humble shape becomes something else entirely — a floating disc, a captured moment of shelter and shade rendered in pearl-iridescent shell.
The Marisa takes that silhouette and suspends it inside a fine gold ring, so the shell shade appears to hover rather than hang. The cord descends in a single relaxed curve — a small note of spontaneity against the restraint of the ring. The result reads as quiet sculpture by day and a warm, golden pool of light by evening.

The material
No two shells are the same. No two Marisas will be either.
Each shade is composed of natural Capiz — the translucent windowpane oyster shell that artisans across the Pacific have prized for generations for the way it holds light. Every shell is washed, hand-graded, and set individually, its natural thickness and tone preserved rather than corrected. Held against a warm bulb, the shell turns honey-gold and luminous; switched off, it settles into a soft, oyster-pale white.
Because the material is natural, your Marisa will carry tonal variation, surface pattern, and translucency that differs subtly from the photographs. This is not a flaw — it is the signature of a shell that grew in the sea rather than a sheet that came off a press.
What you should know
Bulbs included
Unlike many shell fixtures, the Marisa ships with its full set of E14 warm-white LED bulbs — 9, 14, or 21 depending on size. Warm white (2700–3000K) is chosen deliberately: the warm tone is what makes the shell glow honey-gold rather than cold and grey. Dimmable-compatible if you swap for dimmable E14 LEDs and a triac dimmer.
The floating ring
A fine gold-finished metal ring encircles the shell disc, holding it with quiet precision. The ring is the structural counterpoint to the organic shell — geometry against nature, restraint against softness. It is what lifts the Marisa out of "beach decor" and into considered, gallery-grade design.
A genuine weight
At roughly 20kg, the Marisa is a substantial fixture. It requires a heavy-duty ceiling junction box and professional electrician installation — particularly the 51.2" size. We strongly recommend booking a licensed installer; this is not a fixture for a step-ladder afternoon.
Adjustable drop
The standard cable is 59 inches and adjustable on installation. For double-height foyers, vaulted dining rooms, or staircase voids, custom cable lengths are available on request — email service@stuberlighting.com with your ceiling height before ordering.
Where it belongs
The Marisa was made for rooms that value calm over noise. Over a Japandi dining table of pale oak and linen, the small or medium size casts a warm circle of light that gathers people without overwhelming the space. In a Wabi-Sabi living room — raw plaster, natural wood, the beauty of imperfection — the shell's organic variation belongs completely. Above a tea room or meditation corner, the soft amber glow and the floating-disc geometry hold the room in a kind of suspended quiet.
In grander spaces, the 51.2" size becomes a true centrepiece — a double-height entry, a hotel lobby, the long table of a creative studio where it reads as both lighting and installation art. Wherever it hangs, the Marisa asks the room to slow down a little.

Questions, answered
Will my chandelier look exactly like the photos? ↓
No — and that is the point. Capiz is a natural shell, so each piece carries its own tone, pattern, and translucency. Your Marisa will be subtly different from the photographs and from every other Marisa ever made. If you want perfect uniformity, a printed or synthetic shade is the wrong material; if you want a fixture with genuine natural character, this is exactly right.
Which size for my dining table? ↓
A useful rule: the chandelier diameter should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of your table. For a table up to 4 feet wide, the S (23.6") suits. For a standard 4–5 foot table, the M (35.4") is the natural choice. For long banquet or 8+ seat tables, the L (51.2") holds the proportion. Hang the lowest point about 30–36 inches above the tabletop.
Are the bulbs really included? ↓
Yes. Every Marisa ships with its complete set of warm-white E14 LED bulbs — 9, 14, or 21 depending on size. You will not need to source bulbs separately. We include warm-white specifically because it is the temperature that makes Capiz shell glow; a cool-white bulb would flatten the effect.
Can I dim it? ↓
Yes — replace the included bulbs with dimmable E14 LEDs and wire through a compatible triac dimmer. For dining and meditation spaces this is well worth doing: at 30–40% the shell stops illuminating and starts simply glowing, which is the Marisa at its most beautiful.
How is it installed at 20kg? ↓
A heavy-duty ceiling junction box rated for chandelier loads is required, anchored to the ceiling framing rather than drywall alone. We strongly recommend a licensed electrician, especially for the L size and for any high or double-height ceiling. Custom cable length for tall ceilings is available — write to us before ordering with your measurements.
Each Marisa is composed by hand from natural Capiz shell — washed, graded, and set piece by piece. The variation between shells is the material's signature, not a defect. For matched-tone orders across multiple fixtures, write to support@stuberlighting.com.
Safety tested for indoor use in dry locations. Built to meet UL, ETL, CE, and SAA electrical safety standards.
