— MARINA / CAPIZ SHELL FLOOR LAMP —

The Coraline,
brought down to floor level.

A Capiz shell floor lamp that delivers the same pearl-iridescent glow of our Coraline chandelier — now in a 47-inch standing form for living room corners, bedroom accents, and any space without ceiling-mount lighting access.

No wiring

Most American homes that want a Coastal aesthetic in the living room face the same problem: they want a Capiz shell statement piece, but they don't have the right ceiling junction box to install a chandelier, or they're renting and can't hardwire, or they need the shell-glow effect in a corner where no overhead lighting exists. The Marina solves all three problems.

The form takes the Capiz shell cascade from our Coraline chandelier and translates it into a floor lamp — the shells suspended from a horizontal ring at the top of a 47-inch metal pole, with the bulb concealed inside the ring so light filters down through the shells from above. Plug-in installation means no electrician, no junction box, no wiring permits. The result is the same warm pearl glow as the Coraline, accessible to any room with a wall outlet.

Bulbs included. Built to UL safety standards. Choose Gold finish (matches Coraline for paired installations) or Chrome finish (cleaner modern Coastal). Plug type US, UK, EU, or AU at checkout. In-line cord switch standard; some installations include a remote dimmer.

— Material & design —

What makes the Marina

01

Natural Capiz shells · same source as Coraline

The shells are real natural Capiz from the same Filipino artisans who supply our Coraline chandelier — windowpane oyster (Placuna placenta) polished by hand and threaded onto fine cord. The shell cascade hangs from a horizontal ring at the top of the lamp pole. The natural variation between shells (slight differences in opacity, color, surface texture) is inherent to the material — not a defect.

02

Plug-in installation · no electrician required

The Marina's defining advantage over the Coraline. Plug it into any wall outlet, position it wherever the room needs warm light, and you're done. No ceiling junction box required; no electrician to schedule; no risk of damaging your existing ceiling. This makes the Marina the right choice for renters, for rooms without ceiling lighting infrastructure, or for any application where ceiling installation isn't feasible.

03

Two finishes · Gold and Chrome

Gold — warm metal finish that matches the Coraline chandelier exactly, designed for customers who want paired installations across multiple rooms (Coraline overhead, Marina in the corner). Reads warmer and more traditionally Coastal-Boho.

Chrome — polished silver finish for cleaner modern Coastal interpretations. Reads cooler and more contemporary; pairs particularly well with white walls, natural linen, and minimalist Coastal palettes.

04

In-line cord switch · dimmer-compatible

Standard in-line on/off button switch on the cord — toggle without reaching across furniture. Some configurations include a remote dimmer for full atmosphere control. To enable continuous dimming, swap the included bulb for a dimmable E26 LED and use the inline dimmer (or add an aftermarket plug-in dimmer between the lamp and the wall outlet). At 30-40% brightness the shells glow rather than illuminate, which is the canonical Coastal evening effect.

05

47.2-inch height · proper statement scale

At nearly four feet total height with a 15.7-inch diameter shell crown, the Marina reads as a deliberate statement piece — taller than typical accent floor lamps but compact enough to fit in living room corners and apartment-scale spaces. The proportions are calibrated so the shell crown sits at standing-eye-level when you walk past, not above your sightline.

— Marina & Coraline: the Capiz family —

The same shells, two ways to bring them home

We make the Capiz shell cascade in two forms. Coraline is the chandelier — hardwired ceiling-mount, three sizes from 19.7" to 31.5", for dining rooms and foyers with proper ceiling junction boxes. Marina is the floor lamp — plug-in installation, single 47.2-inch height, for living room corners, bedrooms, rented apartments, or any space without ceiling lighting access.

Choose Marina if: you need plug-in (no electrical work), want a floor-level statement, or have a corner that needs warmth. Choose Coraline if: you want the ceiling-mount fixture, have a dining table or foyer to anchor. Choose both in matching Gold for an open-plan Coastal home where the Coraline hangs over dinner and the Marina glows in the living room corner.

— Where it lives —

Recommended spaces

Beach house living room corner · Gold

The signature application. A Gold Marina in the corner of a Coastal-style living room — beside the sofa, next to a rattan armchair, or in the empty corner that needs warmth. The shells throw pearl-iridescent shadows on the walls during evening; the Gold finish ties to brass hardware throughout the room.

Apartment / rental Coastal · either finish

For renters or apartment dwellers who can't hardwire a chandelier — the Marina delivers the Coastal aesthetic with no installation work. Just plug in and position. Moves with you when you move out; no patching ceiling holes or rewiring required.

Bedroom · Gold next to bed or in reading corner

A Marina beside a bed or in the bedroom reading corner creates intimate Coastal romantic atmosphere — particularly effective in Gold with linen drapes and natural wood furniture. At low brightness (with dimmable bulb + plug-in dimmer) the shells read more like soft pearl light than electric fixture.

Foyer · Chrome modern Coastal entry

A Chrome Marina in the foyer corner creates a clean modern Coastal welcome — particularly effective in apartments and townhomes where a traditional chandelier doesn't make sense for the foyer scale. Pairs with a small console table and weathered mirror.

Paired with Coraline in open-plan homes · matching Gold

For open-plan Coastal homes — Coraline chandelier hangs over the dining table, Marina glows in the adjacent living room corner. Both in matching Gold finish for a coherent shell-cascade theme across the entire space. Email us if you're ordering both for matched-batch shell tone coordination.

Questions

Marina or Coraline — which should I choose? +

Choose Marina (floor lamp, 47.2") if:
· You can't or don't want to hardwire a chandelier
· You're renting and need a removable installation
· The room has no ceiling junction box for overhead fixtures
· You want shell glow in a corner without ceiling access
· You prefer floor-level statement pieces

Choose Coraline (chandelier, 3 sizes 19.7-31.5") if:
· You have a dining room or foyer with ceiling installation
· You want overhead ceiling-mount Capiz statement
· You're willing to schedule professional installation
· The room has a proper junction box and high enough ceiling

Order both in matching Gold if you want a coordinated Capiz aesthetic across multiple rooms in an open-plan Coastal home.

Which finish — Chrome or Gold? +

Gold — warm metallic finish, matches our Coraline chandelier for paired installations. Pairs beautifully with brass hardware, walnut wood, terracotta tile, layered Boho textiles, and traditional Coastal palettes. The default choice if you want warmth.

Chrome — polished silver finish, reads cooler and more modern. Pairs particularly well with white walls, natural linen, and minimalist Coastal interiors. The default choice if your interior leans contemporary rather than traditional Coastal.

Most ordered: Gold. It matches the Coraline chandelier finish exactly and reads more traditionally Coastal-Boho.

Are these real Capiz shells like the Coraline? +

Yes — same supplier, same authentic shells.

The Capiz shells used in the Marina come from the exact same Filipino artisans who supply our Coraline chandelier. Same natural windowpane oyster (Placuna placenta) source, same hand-polishing and threading craft, same authentic pearl-iridescent quality.

The natural variation between shells is part of the material — every Marina is slightly different from every other Marina, just as every Coraline is slightly different from every other Coraline. This is real handcrafted shell, not plastic.

How do I clean the shells? +

Dry dust periodically — never wet clean.

· Routine: Use a soft microfiber duster or feather duster every 2-3 months to gently remove dust from the shell surfaces.

· Avoid: Water, soap, household cleaners, alcohol-based sprays, or compressed-air dusters. Capiz shells are organic material that can stain or warp with liquid exposure.

· Metal pole and ring: Wipe with a soft dry cloth. For Chrome, use a microfiber cloth to maintain polish. For Gold, dry-dust only — avoid abrasive cloths that could scratch the finish.

Real Capiz shells naturally maintain their pearl-white color for decades indoors — they will not yellow like cheap plastic substitutes.

Is assembly difficult? How long does it take? +

Easy 20-30 minute assembly — no electrician needed.

The Marina ships with the metal pole sections and shell strands packaged separately to prevent shipping damage. Assembly steps:

1. Connect the pole sections (twist-lock or screw-together)
2. Attach the shell crown ring to the top
3. Hang the shell strands using included clips
4. Insert the included bulb
5. Plug into wall outlet

Most customers complete assembly in 20-30 minutes with no tools required. Detailed step-by-step instructions included. In the rare case of a damaged shell during shipping, email us with photos within 7 days and we'll send replacement shells at no charge.

Can I dim the Marina? +

Yes — bulb-and-dimmer compatible.

The standard configuration uses an in-line on/off switch. Some configurations include a remote dimmer (specify in order notes if needed).

To add dimming after purchase:
· Replace the included bulb with a dimmable E26 LED bulb (Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon for $8-15)
· Add an aftermarket plug-in cord dimmer (the kind that sits between the plug and the wall outlet, $15-25 on Amazon)
· OR plug the lamp into an outlet controlled by a triac wall dimmer

The Capiz shells look particularly beautiful at 30-40% dimmed brightness — at full brightness they illuminate, dimmed they glow.

— A note from us —

Each Marina contains a hand-strung Capiz shell cascade — every shell slightly different, every lamp slightly different. This is the nature of real shell craft.
