— LARKIN / P376 STYLE PENDANT —
A disc above the kitchen,
a shape from 1963.
A tribute to one of the most recognizable Mid-Century pendant silhouettes — the flat aluminum disc that defined Scandinavian design when it first appeared on the market over sixty years ago. Built with respect for the original, in the spirit it was made.

— A design tribute —
The Larkin is Stuberlighting's tribute to the iconic P376 pendant — a flat aluminum disc designed by Verner Panton in 1963, originally produced by Fritz Hansen and now by &Tradition. The Larkin is not an authentic P376 product; it's an independently manufactured homage offered at a fraction of the original's price.
If you want the authentic article with its history, manufacturer warranty, and provenance, we encourage you to purchase from &Tradition directly. If you love the silhouette and want it in your home without the $1,400+ commitment, the Larkin is for you.
The flat aluminum disc pendant is one of the most-photographed silhouettes in Mid-Century lighting. Hang it over a kitchen island, a dining table, or a long sideboard, and the room reads as deliberately designed — not because the lamp is loud, but because the geometry is so precise it makes everything around it look intentional. The 18.7-inch diameter is the canonical size: large enough to anchor a substantial table, small enough not to dominate a residential ceiling.
The Larkin's construction follows the original logic. Spun aluminum disc (not stamped, which would feel cheap; not pressed-board with metallic coating, which would yellow). Concealed wiring routes through the suspension cord without visible junction boxes. The cord length is 59 inches by default — long enough for most installations — and the height is adjustable during installation. For taller ceilings or loft applications, extension cords are available on request.
Bulbs included. Built to UL safety standards. Choose your finish — Silver brushed aluminum reads closest to the original 1963 silhouette and pairs beautifully with walnut wood, white tile, and Mid-Century furniture. White matte aluminum reads more contemporary and Scandinavian, suiting all-white kitchens and Modern Minimalist interiors.

What makes the Larkin
01
Spun aluminum · the right material
The original P376 was made of spun aluminum — a manufacturing process that creates a smooth, continuous metal surface without seams or visible welds. The Larkin uses the same process. The disc is formed from a single aluminum sheet rotated on a lathe; the result is lightweight (no spinal strength issues for ceilings), thermally stable (no warping over years of bulb heat), and aesthetically continuous (no manufacturing artifacts visible from below).
02
Two finishes — Silver classic, White contemporary
Silver brushed aluminum is the canonical P376 finish — the one in every Mid-Century design book photograph, the one that pairs with walnut floors and leather chairs and white kitchen tile. White matte aluminum is a contemporary reinterpretation — softer, more Scandinavian, designed to disappear against white-painted ceilings while still holding its disc geometry.
03
Adjustable cord height · 59" standard
The cord ships at 59 inches (about 5 feet) — long enough to hang the disc roughly 30-36 inches above a kitchen island or dining table from an 8-foot ceiling. The cord height is adjustable during installation by your electrician. For ceilings over 9 feet (loft applications, vaulted spaces, double-height rooms), extension cords are available on request at service@stuberlighting.com.
04
E26 socket · replaceable bulbs · dimmable compatible
Standard E26 medium-base socket — the same socket used in most American residential lamps. Bulbs are replaceable for life (no integrated LED to age out). The fixture is compatible with dimmable bulbs and dimmer wall switches — swap in a dimmable E26 LED and pair with any standard triac wall dimmer for full atmosphere control. Maximum 40W per socket.
05
18.7" diameter · the canonical size
The 18.7-inch (47cm) diameter matches the original P376's canonical proportions — large enough to anchor a kitchen island or dining table for 4-6 people, compact enough to feel residential rather than commercial. The disc itself is 7.5 inches deep, giving it just enough vertical presence to read as a deliberate object rather than a flat plate.
— On design tribute —
"The best Mid-Century designs were industrial democracy made physical — beautiful objects for ordinary people."
Verner Panton designed the P376 in 1963 as part of a Mid-Century movement that believed great design should be available to working people — not locked behind boutique pricing. Sixty years later, the authentic article from licensed manufacturers sells for $1,400-1,800. For most American homeowners, that price puts an iconic Mid-Century pendant out of reach of the kitchen renovation budget.
The Larkin is offered in that original Mid-Century spirit — a faithful tribute to the silhouette, built with the same materials and proportions, available at a price that actually fits a residential lighting budget. If you can afford the authentic article and you want the history and provenance, buy from &Tradition. If you want the shape in your kitchen and the price needs to make sense, the Larkin is built for you.
— Where it lives —
Recommended spaces
Kitchen island · Silver · single placement
The signature P376 application — a single 18.7" Silver Larkin centered over a standard 6-8 foot kitchen island. Hangs 30-36 inches above the island counter for optimal task lighting without blocking sightlines. Pairs beautifully with walnut wood cabinetry, white subway tile, and brass fixtures.
Dining table · Silver or White · single centered
A single 18.7" Larkin centered over a 4-6 person dining table. The 18.7" diameter works for tables up to about 7 feet; larger tables benefit from two Larkins spaced along the length. Hangs roughly 32-36 inches above the table surface for diner-eye-level clearance.
Living room · Silver · statement piece
A single Larkin centered over a coffee table or sectional in a Mid-Century-leaning living room. The Silver finish reads as a deliberate design history reference — pairs with leather Eames-style chairs, walnut floors, brass accents, and the kind of mid-century interior that does the silhouette justice.
Foyer or entryway · White · welcoming statement
A White Larkin in the foyer or entryway sets a contemporary Scandinavian tone the moment guests walk in. Reads softer than the Silver — more "minimalist Modern home" than "deliberate design history homage." Best for entries with white walls and white-painted ceilings.
Loft or high-ceiling space · Silver · extended cord
For lofts and double-height spaces with 10-14 foot ceilings, the Larkin's adjustable cord and available extensions let you hang the disc at appropriate proportional height. Email us before ordering to coordinate the extended cord length — most loft applications need 8-10 foot cords.

Questions
Is this an authentic P376 by Verner Panton? +
No — the Larkin is a design tribute to the iconic P376, not an authentic Fritz Hansen or &Tradition product.
The authentic P376 is a Mid-Century pendant designed by Verner Panton in 1963, originally produced by Fritz Hansen and currently manufactured under license by &Tradition. The authentic article carries the original designer's name, manufacturer markings, included warranty, and design provenance — and is priced accordingly (typically $1,400-1,800 retail).
The Larkin is independently manufactured by Stuberlighting as a tribute to the silhouette. It uses similar materials (spun aluminum) and matches the canonical proportions, but it is not a licensed reproduction. If you want the authentic article with its full design heritage, we recommend purchasing directly from &Tradition or an authorized dealer.
If you want the shape, the geometry, and the visual presence at a price that fits a typical residential lighting budget — the Larkin is built for that purpose.
Which finish should I choose — Silver or White? +
Silver brushed aluminum — the original P376 finish. Choose if your home leans Mid-Century, has walnut wood floors or furniture, or uses brass and warm metal accents. The Silver reads as a deliberate design history reference, the kind of fixture that anchors a Mid-Century-inspired kitchen or living room.
White matte aluminum — a contemporary Scandinavian reinterpretation. Choose for all-white kitchens, Modern Minimalist interiors, Scandinavian-leaning palettes, or homes where the fixture should disappear against the ceiling. White reads softer and quieter — less of a statement, more of a quiet design choice.
Most ordered: Silver. It's the canonical finish, and the one most customers visualize when they search for a "P376 style pendant."
How high should I hang the Larkin above my island or table? +
For kitchen islands: Hang the bottom of the Larkin disc 30-36 inches above the countertop. This is the standard for task lighting — high enough to clear sightlines, low enough to illuminate the work surface without glare.
For dining tables: Hang the bottom of the disc 32-36 inches above the table surface. Slightly higher than islands because the table is typically lower than counter height; you want the disc above diner head-height when standing, but below eye-level when seated.
For living room coffee table placement: Hang 60-72 inches above the floor — high enough that walking under it is comfortable but low enough to create a deliberate ceiling-anchored focal point.
The cord is adjustable during installation by your electrician — no need to specify the exact hanging height before ordering.
Will this work with my high ceilings or loft space? +
Yes — with an extended cord.
The Larkin ships with a 59" (5 ft) cord by default — perfect for 8-foot residential ceilings. For higher ceilings:
· 9-10 ft ceilings — standard cord works fine (Larkin hangs at appropriate height)
· 10-12 ft ceilings — request 7-8 ft cord extension
· 12+ ft loft/vaulted — request 10-12 ft cord extension, or longer if needed
Email service@stuberlighting.com before ordering with your ceiling height. We coordinate the cord length so the disc hangs at the correct proportional height for your space (typically the equivalent of 30-36 inches above the surface it's lighting). No additional charge for extension cords up to 10 feet.
Can I dim the Larkin? +
Yes — the fixture is dimmable-compatible.
The included bulb is a standard non-dimmable warm-white LED (works with on/off wall switch). To enable dimming, replace the included bulb with a dimmable E26 LED bulb (widely available at Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon for $8-15) and pair with a compatible triac wall dimmer. Most modern triac dimmers work with dimmable LEDs without specialty controls.
Once installed, full atmosphere control from 5%-100% brightness via wall switch. The bulbs can be swapped at any time without replacing the fixture itself.
Is the bulb included? What bulbs does it use? +
Yes — E26 warm-white LED bulbs are included (standard 2700K non-dimmable). Plug into your existing ceiling wiring, switch on, done.
The E26 socket is the standard medium-base socket used in most American residential lamps — same socket as your bedside lamp, your floor lamp, your average table lamp. Replacement bulbs are available from Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, or any hardware store. Maximum 40W per socket — most modern E26 LED bulbs draw 8-12W so there's significant headroom.
For dimming, replace the included bulbs with dimmable E26 LEDs (see previous question for details).
— A note from us —
Each Larkin aluminum disc has subtle variations in the brushed finish (Silver) or matte finish (White) — these are inherent qualities of the spun aluminum manufacturing process, not defects. The variation contributes to the handcraft character that defines high-quality aluminum lighting.
For multi-unit orders (large dining tables, restaurants, commercial applications), email service@stuberlighting.com — we coordinate matched-batch aluminum finish to ensure visual consistency across multiple units, and offer bulk pricing for 3+ unit orders.
Safety tested for indoor use in dry locations. Built to meet UL, ETL, CE, and SAA electrical safety standards for residential lighting installations.
