The Hayden Pendant

A dome of warm metal — anchored by a solid walnut wood canopy. Designed for the kind of American interior that grew up with mid-century modern furniture and never quite let it go.

The Hayden is built around one decision: that warmth and architecture aren't opposites. Most modern pendants choose a side — either the spare cool of polished metal, or the soft glow of natural materials. The Hayden does neither alone. The dome is a clean aluminum form, machined and finished in three temperaments. The canopy and connectors are real solid walnut, dark and grained, holding the fixture to the ceiling like a piece of furniture rather than a fitting.

It belongs to the same family as the Hadley walnut chandelier — same hardwood, same intention, designed to live in the same room. Hang the Hayden over a kitchen island; place the Hadley above the adjacent dining table. The room becomes a composition.

Bulbs included — E26 warm-white LED, ready to install. 59-inch wire with optional extension on request. Hardwired installation; we recommend a professional electrician for ceiling installation.

Real solid walnut canopy

Not wood-look veneer over particleboard — real hardwood walnut, grained and warm, finished to last decades. The canopy and connecting elements between fixture and ceiling are the part that's visible up close, so we made them honest.

Spun aluminum dome in Beige for warm neutral interiors, White for Scandinavian and minimalist rooms, or Black for graphic modern spaces. Each color reads completely different in context — same fixture, three personalities.

The 13.7" works for kitchen islands in trios, individual pendants over a desk, or paired above an entry. The 19.6" is a statement piece — single over a dining table, or anchoring a vaulted ceiling that needs a focal point at eye level.

Ships with E26 warm-white LED bulbs already in place. No separate bulb shopping, no figuring out wattage or color temperature. The included bulbs are matched to the dome's warm-toned interior reflection for the right glow on day one.

— Built for vaulted ceilings —

When the ceiling slopes,
the fixture has to descend.

Mid-century modern American homes — and the contemporary renovations that look back to them — overwhelmingly favor vaulted, sloped, and double-height ceilings. They open the room but create a real lighting problem: flush mounts disappear into the height, and most chandeliers are designed for 8-foot flat ceilings.

The Hayden was engineered for this geometry. The 59-inch wire (extendable) lets you bring the fixture down to eye level regardless of ceiling height, so the room is lit where people actually live in it — at the table, over the island, not 16 feet overhead. The dome shape directs warm light downward in a controlled cone rather than scattering it into the architectural void above.

Kitchen Island · trio (13.7")

Three Hayden 13.7" spaced 24-30" apart along the island length. The walnut canopies read warm above the counter; the dome shapes contain the glow without spilling glare onto the cooking surface.

Dining Room · single (19.6")

One Hayden 19.6" centered over a rectangular dining table. The larger dome anchors the table without crowding it; particularly powerful in Beige or Black for moodier dining atmospheres.

Vaulted Ceiling Living Room · single (19.6")

Extend the wire to bring the Hayden down to roughly 8-9 feet above the floor, regardless of ceiling height. The dome reads at human scale instead of getting lost in the architectural volume above.

Home Office · single (13.7")

Above a desk or work surface, the 13.7" provides directional task light without the buzz of fluorescent or the glare of overhead lighting. Black & Walnut reads professional and architectural.

Foyer / Hallway · single (13.7")

The walnut warmth makes for a welcoming first impression. Beige or White work best in tight foyers where the ceiling is close to the door; Black for taller two-story entries.

Questions

Are bulbs included? What if I want dimming? +

Yes — the Hayden ships with E26 LED warm-white bulbs already included (standard non-dimmable 2700K). Install, hardwire, switch on; no separate bulb shopping required.

For dimming, two extra purchases: (1) dimmable E26 LED bulbs to replace the included ones — widely available at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Amazon — and (2) a dimmable wall switch compatible with LED loads. The fixture works with both setups; dimming comes from the bulb + switch combination.

Which size for which application — 13.7" or 19.6"? +

Choose the 13.7" for kitchen islands (in a trio, spaced 24-30" apart), home office desks, foyers, hallway runs, or anywhere you want pendant lighting that reads architectural without dominating the room.

Choose the 19.6" when the fixture needs to be a statement: centered over a dining table (single, hung 30-36" above the table surface), anchoring a vaulted-ceiling living room, or any application where a single pendant is the room's focal point. For dining tables wider than 60", consider hanging two of the 19.6" along the table length.

Will this work on my vaulted or sloped ceiling? +

Yes — the Hayden is specifically built for vaulted, sloped, and tall ceilings. The standard wire is 59 inches (about 5 feet), which lets you bring the fixture down to typical eye-level (~8 feet from floor) on ceilings up to 12-14 feet high. For taller ceilings, contact service@stuberlighting.com before ordering — we can extend the wire to any length you need at no additional cost. For sloped (angled) ceilings, you'll need a sloped-ceiling canopy adapter (available at any hardware store for $10-20); the standard included canopy is for flat ceilings.

Which color should I pick — Beige, White, or Black? +

Beige & Walnut for warm-neutral interiors — natural wood floors, earth-tone walls, mid-century furniture in oak or teak. The beige dome and walnut wood pull together rather than contrast.

White & Walnut for Scandinavian, minimalist, and bright modern interiors — white walls, light wood floors, neutral palettes. The white dome stays quiet while the walnut connectors add the warmth the room needs.

Black & Walnut for graphic modern, industrial, and architectural interiors — black metal accents elsewhere in the room, darker palettes, statement-driven design. The contrast between the black dome and warm walnut is the most architectural of the three.

Can I pair Hayden with the Hadley Chandelier in the same room? +

Yes — they were designed for this. Both fixtures use the same walnut hardwood, the same restrained mid-century vocabulary, and the same warm finish on the canopy elements. Common pairings: Hadley as the dining room chandelier with Hayden in the adjacent kitchen island (trio). Hadley over a master bedroom seating area with Hayden in the bathroom or dressing room. Hadley in the foyer with Hayden running down the hallway. When ordering both together, email service@stuberlighting.com — we'll match the walnut wood batches so the two fixtures read perfectly as a set.
