GINKGO SERIES · N°06 · STYLE K — LINEAR
Long. Linear. Horizontal.
The Style K is the Ginkgo Series in its most linear form — six long-horizontal configurations designed specifically for rooms where a round chandelier would leave the ceiling under-covered: 10-12-seat dining tables, kitchen islands with generous counter length, home bar counters, banquet rooms, conference tables, and any interior where the ceiling is asked to span horizontal space rather than punctuate a central point. Two models (Model A: flat, Model B: cascading drop). Three lengths per model (78.7" to 118.1"). Twelve to eighteen G9 bulbs housed within hand-crafted porcelain ginkgo leaves.

The problem with round chandeliers over rectangular tables.
Most residential chandeliers are round. This works for round or square dining tables, foyers with symmetrical proportions, and rooms where the fixture is meant to hold a central rotating point. But long rectangular tables (8-12 seats), kitchen islands with 8-10-ft counter runs, banquet-style dining rooms, and horizontal working surfaces are all built on a linear axis — and a round chandelier suspended above them either reads as too small (leaving the ends of the surface under-illuminated) or requires oversizing to cover the full length, which then leaves the fixture reading as awkwardly proportioned above the room.
The Style K answers this specific problem. Six horizontal-oriented configurations, sized proportional to the tables and counters they're meant to sit above. The porcelain ginkgo leaves radiate outward from a long-linear Rose Gold frame, filling the horizontal footprint that the room already occupies without demanding vertical space that isn't available. Two models — Model A remains flat at 23.6" height across all three lengths; Model B introduces cascading vertical drop that grows with length (31.5" / 39.4" / 47.2") for interiors where more architectural presence is required.
The lower-profile configuration. All three Model A lengths hold a uniform 23.6" fixture height — the porcelain leaves radiate horizontally outward from the long-linear frame without dropping vertically. Correct for rooms with 8-10-ft ceilings where a taller fixture would descend into eye-line territory. Reads more restrained than Model B; belongs where the horizontal composition is the point rather than the vertical presence.

The vertical-presence configuration. Same footprint as Model A but with cascading porcelain drop growing proportionally with each length increment (31.5" → 39.4" → 47.2"). This is the model to choose for rooms with 10-ft-plus ceilings where the fixture is meant to hold vertical space intentionally — the leaves cascade downward from the frame, producing a dimensional sculptural read that Model A's flat profile cannot match. The choice for statement dining rooms, formal banquet spaces, and hospitality flagship applications.

Choosing
A three-step decision.
1
Measure the surface below.
The fixture length should be roughly 60-75% of the surface length below it. A 10-ft dining table wants a 78.7" fixture; a 12-ft table wants 98.4"; a 14-16-ft banquet or bar-length surface wants 118.1". Under-sized reads as afterthought; over-sized crowds the wall spaces at both ends.
2
Measure the ceiling above.
Model A (flat 23.6") works for 8-10-ft ceilings and dining tables where 30-36 inches of clearance above the tabletop is available. Model B (31.5"-47.2" drop) works for 10-ft-plus ceilings where the extra vertical presence is architecturally supported and doesn't crowd the room's headspace.
3
Choose the visual register.
Model A reads as restrained horizontal composition — belongs where the room's other elements are already doing significant visual work. Model B reads as sculptural dimensional statement — belongs where the fixture is meant to be the room's design conversation. When in doubt: Model A is the safer proportional default; Model B is the memorable one.
Rooms
Six specific applications.
Application 01
Long rectangular dining rooms.
The primary specification. Match fixture length to 60-75% of table length. Model A for 8-10-ft ceilings; Model B for 10-ft-plus with headspace for the vertical drop.
Application 02
Kitchen islands & long counters.
Model A almost exclusively — the flat 23.6" height keeps the fixture above cooking and prep working headspace. 78.7" for standard 10-ft islands; 98.4" for 12-ft; 118.1" for banquet-scale.
Application 03
Home bar counters.
Model A 78.7"-98.4" above marble or walnut bar counters. The horizontal linear read pairs particularly well with mid-century bar cabinetry and dedicated home-bar rooms.
Application 04
Long consoles & hallway runs.
Model B 78.7"-98.4" above long entryway consoles or gallery-style hallway runs. The cascading drop turns the console area into a composed decorative statement rather than a functional pass-through.
Application 05
Boutique restaurants & hospitality.
Model A or B in 98.4"-118.1" above fine-dining tables, private-dining rooms, banquet halls. Matched-batch coordination for multi-fixture installations available.
Application 06
Corporate conference & executive.
Model A 98.4"-118.1" above long conference tables in executive rooms, boardrooms, and coworking flagship spaces. The horizontal composition follows the table's authority.
Craft
Individually shaped. Hand-glazed. Long-linearly framed.
Every ceramic ginkgo leaf on every Style K configuration is individually hand-shaped from porcelain clay in our atelier — for the 118.1" Model B XL configuration, over 260 leaves are individually formed for a single assembly. The linear frame is polished Rose Gold as standard (a warm pink-gold register that pairs particularly well with matte-white porcelain and reads more contemporary than traditional yellow-gold finishes); alternative finishes (Copper Gold, Nickel, Chrome, White, Gold, Black) are made-to-order at no additional charge.
The horizontal-linear frame requires specific structural engineering that circular fixtures do not — the long axis needs to support even leaf distribution across 6.5-9.8 feet of length without visual sag or perceived imbalance. Every Style K frame is manually tensioned and quality-verified before ceramic leaves are attached. Production lead times run 4-6 weeks; long-fixture configurations may extend proportionally depending on ceramic kiln capacity.

Questions
Which length for my table or counter?▬
Rule of thumb: the fixture length should be roughly 60-75% of the surface length below it. 78.7" fixture — 10-ft dining tables (8-seat rectangular), standard 10-ft kitchen islands, home bar counters, long entry consoles. 98.4" fixture — 12-ft dining tables (10-seat), 12-ft kitchen islands, restaurant private-dining rooms, executive conference tables. 118.1" fixture — 14-16-ft banquet-scale dining, commercial bar counters, hotel-lobby applications, corporate boardroom tables. Under-sized reads as afterthought; over-sized crowds the wall spaces at both ends of the room.
Model A (flat) or Model B (cascading drop)?▬
The choice follows ceiling height and the visual register you want. Model A (flat, uniform 23.6" H) — for 8-10-ft ceilings, kitchen islands where the fixture sits above cooking headspace, home bar counters, restrained-composition dining rooms, and any interior where the horizontal linear read is enough of a statement on its own. Model B (cascading, 31.5"-47.2" drop) — for 10-ft-plus ceilings, statement dining rooms, formal banquet spaces, hospitality flagship rooms, and interiors where the fixture is meant to be the room's design conversation with dimensional sculptural presence. When in doubt: Model A is safer; Model B is more memorable.
Style K vs Style M horizontal (Model C) vs Style L linear (Model A)?▬
All three offer horizontal linear compositions across the Ginkgo Series; each serves a different scale register. Style L Model A (Linear Rectangular) — vertical-drop linear (L 31.5"-39.3" × H 78"-98.4"); reads as vertical composition with rectangular frame. Style K (this fixture) — long-horizontal linear (L 78.7"-118.1"); reads as spread-out composition following the surface below. Style M Model C (Linear Horizontal) — the largest scale of horizontal linear (L 78.7"-118.1" × extra leaf density); reads as architectural composition for hospitality flagship applications. If your surface is 8-14 ft long and residential, Style K is the specification. If your application is banquet-scale hospitality with high ceiling clearance, Style M Model C is the flagship option. Style L is for shorter linear applications (5-10 ft surfaces) with vertical drop preference.
Do I have enough ceiling clearance?▬
Minimum ceiling requirements: Model A (23.6" fixture height) — 8-ft ceilings work for kitchen islands and bars where headroom is above head-level; 9-ft for dining rooms where clearance above the tabletop is needed. Model B 78.7" × 31.5" — 9-10 ft. Model B 98.4" × 39.4" — 10-11 ft. Model B 118.1" × 47.2" — 12-ft-plus recommended. For dining tables, add 30-36 inches from tabletop to the fixture's lowest point when calculating clearance. If your ceiling is 8 ft or lower, Model A is the correct specification; Model B requires 10-ft-plus to avoid crowding the room's active headspace.
Can I change the frame colour from Rose Gold?▬
Yes, at no extra charge. The default is Rose Gold — a warm pink-gold register that pairs particularly well with matte-white porcelain and reads more contemporary than traditional yellow-gold finishes. Alternative finishes: Copper Gold (warmer classical register), Nickel (cool neutral), Chrome (silver-modern), White (monochrome), Gold (traditional yellow), Black (architectural contemporary). Specify at checkout by leaving a note, or write to support@stuberlighting.com within 24 hours of order placement. For hospitality projects with brand-specific colour requirements, custom finishes beyond this list can be discussed.
Can I dim it?▬
Yes — strongly recommended for all Style K configurations, particularly the 16 and 18-bulb variants where full-brightness output can exceed what most residential rooms want. The included G9 LEDs are non-dimmable warm-white. Replace with dimmable G9 LEDs (widely available, $10-18 each) and install a triac-compatible wall dimmer. At 40-60% brightness, the porcelain leaves catch light at their most atmospheric register — the fixture reads as botanical horizontal composition rather than as bright task illumination. For dining rooms and hospitality applications, dimmable control is essentially required to enable evening-service and event-mode lighting.
Is installation difficult for the long configurations?▬
Moderate to substantial. The ceramic leaves ship packed separately from the frame — they attach individually at installation. 78.7" configurations — 90-120 minutes total, one licensed electrician sufficient. 98.4" configurations — 2-3 hours, 1 licensed electrician + 1 assistant recommended for lifting and levelling. 118.1" configurations — 3-4 hours, 2-person installation required, junction-box weight verification and ceiling-load structural check strongly recommended. Extended fixtures at 9.8 ft length require careful frame handling during installation to prevent visual sag; we can coordinate with your project's contractor for scheduled installations.
How do I clean it?▬
The matte-white porcelain is straightforward to maintain but leaf count matters. Dust with a soft dry microfibre cloth or feather duster; every 3-6 months for residential dining rooms, monthly for kitchen-island installations (where cooking residue accumulates faster), quarterly for hospitality applications with regular event use. For accumulated residue, a lightly-damp cloth (water only) restores the finish; never use ammonia, glass cleaner, or abrasive sponges. The Rose Gold frame wipes with a dry microfibre cloth — avoid brass polish or metal cleaner (which strip the protective sealing). For the 118.1" configurations, plan for 45-90 minutes of thorough cleaning per session because of leaf count.
Trade pricing and hospitality-scale orders?▬
Yes — the Style K is one of our most-specified linear fixtures for restaurant, boutique-hotel, and commercial-scale interior projects. Trade pricing available; matched-batch porcelain coordination for multi-room installations; custom frame finishes; extended wire lengths at no extra charge. Please note that production lead times run 4-6 weeks; multi-fixture orders and 118.1" configurations may extend proportionally depending on ceramic kiln capacity. Write to support@stuberlighting.com with your project brief — quantity, configuration mix, finish specification, and installation timeline.
"The Style K is the answer to a problem most homes don't recognise until they've bought the wrong chandelier — that a long rectangular dining table, a long kitchen island, or a long bar counter needs a fixture sized to match the surface below it. Six configurations because tables and counters come in three useful lengths, and because sometimes the room wants a flat linear composition and sometimes it wants a dimensional cascading one. The sixth of an ongoing Ginkgo Series."
