SAVE $19

Configuration 02

Set of 2

For kitchen islands, bedside pairs, flanking a sink or mirror — the way the Freya is happiest.

There's a quiet kind of beauty in matte ceramic — light hits it and gets absorbed rather than refracted. No sparkle, no shine. Just the warm white of pleated clay catching the bulb's glow and bouncing it back as something softer than what went in. The Freya was designed around this material instinct.

Each shade is hand-pleated — vertical folds carved into the still-soft ceramic before firing — then finished with a matte glaze that keeps the surface tactile rather than glossy. Atop it sits a polished brass stem, the only shine on the fixture, like a brass fitting on a piece of pottery. The whole thing reads more like an object than a fixture.

Bulbs included. Built to UL safety standards. Available as a single fixture or as a Set of 2 with bundle savings — most rooms benefit from the pair anyway.

What makes the Freya

01

Hand-pleated matte ceramic

Each shade is hand-folded into vertical pleats while the clay is still soft, then fired and matte-glazed. The pleats catch shadow rather than light, giving the fixture depth that smooth ceramic can't match. Small variations between fixtures are the signature of hand work, not flaws.

02

Polished brass stem, single accent

Real brass — not painted finish, not gold-tone aluminum — polished to a warm gold. The brass is deliberately the only shine on the fixture, sitting against the matte ceramic the way a brass faucet sits against a stone counter. One material gets to be reflective; the other absorbs.

03

Cocoon proportions — 6.7" × 8.7"

The diameter is narrower than typical pendants and the height taller, giving the fixture a vertical cocoon proportion rather than a wide bowl shape. The result hangs cleaner above kitchen islands, over sinks, and beside beds — never crowding the surface below.

04

Built to safety standards · bulbs included

Designed and constructed to meet UL, ETL, CE, and SAA electrical safety standards for residential lighting. Ships with E26 warm-white LED bulbs already installed (one bulb for Single, two bulbs for Set of 2). Hardwired installation; professional electrician recommended.

— On buying in pairs —

"Some fixtures want to be alone. Others were always meant for two."

The Freya was designed in the second category. The cocoon proportion and the small scale work best when there's a second one beside it — over a kitchen island, beside a bed, flanking a mirror. A single Freya can absolutely work as the centerpiece in small enclosed rooms (powder rooms, vanity tables), but for most American interiors, the pair is the natural fit.

The Set of 2 configuration ships two complete fixtures at a $19 savings off the single price. Same bulbs included, same hardware, same matched-batch ceramic to keep tonal consistency. Just two of them, ready to install.

— Where it lives —

Recommended spaces

Kitchen island — Set of 2

A pair of Freyas spaced 30-36 inches apart over a standard kitchen island. The matte ceramic doesn't compete with countertop surfaces; the brass picks up gold cabinet pulls. Ideal for white, off-white, and warm-neutral kitchens.

Beside the bed — Set of 2

Two Freyas hung at shoulder height beside the bed, in place of bedside table lamps. The cocoon proportion reads bedroom-soft rather than kitchen-bright; the matte ceramic warm-glows like fabric lampshades but with the architectural presence of a fixture.

Above the kitchen sink — Single

One Freya centered above the sink. The 6.7" diameter sits clean above a single-basin or double-basin sink without crowding the faucet or wall. Particularly beautiful in Scandinavian, Japandi, and modern country kitchens.

Dining table — Set of 2 or trio

A pair down a rectangular dining table (60"+), or three for a longer farmhouse table. The vertical cocoon proportion fills dining-table verticality better than wide pendants; reads architectural without dominating the room.

Powder room or vanity — Single

In small enclosed rooms, one Freya is enough. The matte ceramic adds material substance to half-baths and dressing rooms that often feel under-furnished.

Questions

Should I buy one or two? +

Most rooms want two. The Freya was designed for paired applications — kitchen islands, bedside, flanking sinks or mirrors — and the Set of 2 saves $19 off the single price plus ensures matched-batch ceramic for tonal consistency.

Buy one if your specific application is a powder room, a vanity table, an over-sink in a small kitchen, or a single accent in a hallway. Buy two if you're lighting a kitchen island (the most common installation), bedside (replacing bedside lamps), or flanking any architectural element (mirror, sink, range hood). For dining tables 60" or longer, consider three.

Are bulbs included? What about dimming? +

Yes — E26 LED warm-white bulbs are included (standard 2700K, non-dimmable). The Set of 2 ships with two bulbs; the Single ships with one. Install, hardwire, switch on.

For dimming, you'll need dimmable E26 LED bulbs to replace the included ones (widely available at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Amazon for $8-12 each) and a dimmable wall switch compatible with LED loads. Worth doing for bedside or dining applications where evening atmosphere matters.

How does matte ceramic compare to pleated glass? +

Different materials, different feels. Matte ceramic (the Freya) absorbs light rather than transmitting it — the shade reads opaque, with the glow exiting only from the bottom opening. The effect is intimate, contained, sculptural; the fixture itself stays visually quiet. Pleated glass (our Margaux model) transmits light through the shade itself — the whole fixture glows. The effect is brighter, more decorative, more visually present.

Choose the Freya when you want the light to be soft and the fixture to be quiet. Choose the Margaux when you want the fixture itself to be a glowing object. Both have hand-pleated craft; they just direct light differently.

How do I clean ceramic? Will it stain? +

Ceramic is one of the easiest materials to maintain. For dusting, a soft dry cloth or microfiber duster — the pleats catch dust but release it easily. For deeper cleaning, a slightly damp soft cloth removes most kitchen grease and grime that small pendants near cooking areas eventually accumulate. Avoid: harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or anything that could scratch the matte glaze. The glaze is sealed during firing, so ceramic in kitchen installations resists staining well — unlike concrete or unglazed terracotta, the Freya can handle splashes without permanent marks.

— A note from us —

When ordering the Set of 2, both fixtures come from the same ceramic batch to ensure matched glaze tone and pleat consistency. For larger multi-fixture orders (3+), email service@stuberlighting.com — we'll coordinate matched-batch production.

Safety tested for indoor use in dry locations. Built to meet UL, ETL, CE, and SAA electrical safety standards for North American residential lighting installations.
