La Colette
A column of glass,
turned on a wooden spindle.
A French country pendant in three colors — for the kitchens, the foyers, and the dining rooms that have always preferred a little romance to their warmth.
There's a particular kind of American home that doesn't want to look new. Wide-plank wood floors that show wear. A kitchen with a farmhouse sink and open shelving. A dining room with a long wooden table that has seen a thousand suppers. For these homes, modern minimalist lighting feels wrong — too clean, too industrial, too forward-looking. They want fixtures that look like they could have always been there.
The Colette is built for them. A turned wooden column — slim, vertical, columnar in the way old wooden balusters are — finished in your choice of natural light wood, deep walnut, or matte black. At the top, a hand-blown glass shade catches the bulb light and softens it into the warm amber glow of an oil lamp.
Bulbs included — E14 warm-white LED, ready to install. 59-inch wire, height-adjustable during installation. Hardwired; professional installation recommended.
— The Details —
∼ une ∼
Real solid wood, turned
Each column is turned from real hardwood, the way furniture spindles have been made for two centuries. Available in light Wood for bright country interiors, deep Walnut for traditional dining rooms, and matte Black for transitional spaces that mix French country with modern.
∼ deux ∼
Hand-blown glass shade
Each glass shade is hand-blown — not pressed, not molded, not machine-formed. Small variations in thickness and curvature catch and diffuse light differently in different lights, the way old lamp shades in old houses always have.
∼ trois ∼
Slim vertical scale, 5.9" × 19.7"
A pendant the shape of a column rather than a bowl — narrow enough to hang in hallways, tall enough to feel architectural. Hang in pairs above a kitchen island, in a series down a long hallway, or singly above a bedside table.
∼ quatre ∼
Bulbs included, dimmable-ready
Ships with E14 warm-white LED bulbs already installed. The fixture itself supports dimming — pair with a dimmable E14 LED and a compatible wall dimmer for full evening atmosphere control.
— On French Country Lighting —
"The most beautiful homes are the ones that look as if no one designed them."
That's the French Country instinct. Not perfectly matched, not coordinated, not bought as a set — just collected over years from places that made things by hand. The Colette is one fixture, but it's designed to look as if you've had it for fifteen years. The turned wood column. The hand-blown glass. The warmth that comes only from real materials. Hang it next to anything: everything looks better near it.
— Where it lives —
Recommended spaces
Above the kitchen island, in a pair
Two Colettes spaced 30-36" apart above a standard island. Wood or Walnut for traditional kitchens; Black for transitional ones that mix old and new.
Above a long dining table, in a trio
Three Colettes hung in a line down the length of a 72"+ dining table. The vertical scale of the columns reads taller than round pendants, anchoring the table without overpowering it.
Down a long hallway, in series
A pendant the shape of a column is one of the few that work well in hallways — the narrow horizontal footprint doesn't crowd the corridor. Hang 3-5 along a long hallway for an architectural effect.
Bedside, in a pair
Two Colettes hung at shoulder height beside the bed replace bedside lamps and free up nightstand surface — particularly elegant in primary bedrooms with a French country sensibility.
Foyer or staircase, singly or in cluster
The 19.7" tall format makes the Colette ideal for two-story foyers — a single column or a vertical cluster fills the architectural volume without needing a chandelier-size statement piece.

Questions
Are bulbs included? Can I dim this fixture? +
Yes — the Colette ships with E14 LED warm-white bulbs already included (standard 2700K, non-dimmable). Install, hardwire, switch on.
For dimming, the fixture itself is dimmable-ready, but you'll need two extra purchases: (1) dimmable E14 LED bulbs to replace the included ones — available at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Amazon for $8-15 each — and (2) a dimmable wall switch compatible with LED loads. The combination of dimmable bulb + dimmable switch gives full evening atmosphere control.
What's E14? Is it hard to find these bulbs? +
E14 is a smaller-base European-style screw socket — narrower than the standard American E26 base. The Colette uses E14 because the slim European socket suits the column's narrow form and creates a more refined visual proportion than a chunkier E26 socket would. E14 LED bulbs are widely available in the US at Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, Amazon, and lighting stores. Look for "E14 LED candelabra" or "E14 LED chandelier bulb" — typical price $5-15 for warm-white LED, $8-15 for dimmable. The Colette ships with bulbs already included, so you only need to think about E14 if you want to change to dimmable or different color temperature.
Which color — Wood, Walnut, or Black? +
Wood & White for classic French country interiors — white walls, light wood floors, country dining. The lighter natural finish reads bright and welcoming, perfect for Provençal-inspired kitchens.
Walnut & White for traditional and transitional interiors — darker wood floors, formal dining rooms, deeper paint colors. The walnut adds warmth and gravitas, particularly beautiful with brass hardware and traditional moldings.
Black & White for modern French country and farmhouse-modern mixes — kitchens with black metal accents, dining rooms with painted black trim. The contrast between the black column and white glass reads architectural rather than purely traditional.
Will the slim column be enough light for my kitchen? +
A single Colette in the middle of a large kitchen would be too small — the slim column form is designed for multiples and for task-zone applications rather than whole-room ambient light. For kitchen island lighting, we recommend a pair (for islands up to 60") or a trio (for islands 60-90"). Pair the Colette with under-cabinet LED strips or recessed ceiling lights for whole-room ambient light; the Colettes provide the warm focal lighting at the island. For dining tables, a single 19.7" Colette is enough for tables up to 48" wide; for larger tables, hang them in a series along the table length.
