MURANO GLASS · N°05 · FROM PROVENCE

French vintage,
rendered in glass.

A layered cascade of hand-blown, textured Murano glass — thirty, forty-four, or seventy-nine pieces, each individually shaped, arrayed in flowing tiers around a metal frame. Available in two glass tones: rich blue for coastal-modern interiors, warm amber for French country and traditional rooms. Bulbs included in every fixture.

3 sizes · 2 tones · 6 variations

Blue — Coastal Modern

Sea-glass tone. Modern French, Hampton, and coastal interiors.

Amber — French Country

Honey-whisky tone. Provençal, traditional, and warm-vintage rooms.

I · The lineage

A shape borrowed from Provence.

The layered-textured-glass chandelier is not new. Some version of it has hung in French country houses, Provençal farmhouses, and coastal Riviera villas for close to two centuries — cascading forms of pressed and blown glass, catching evening candlelight over long dining tables where families gathered for hours. Antique dealers still find them in the estates of Aix-en-Provence and Antibes.

What the Bianca does is render that historical shape in contemporary hand-blown Murano-technique glass — textured surfaces that catch light with the depth of vintage pieces, structured cascades that hold their form with the precision of modern engineering. It is a design of continuity rather than reinvention.

II · The tones

Two tones. Two temperaments.

Blue — sea-glass

Coastal Modern · Hampton · Modern French Blue

A rich, sea-glass blue coloured at the molten stage with cobalt. Under warm bulbs, the blue shifts from cool ocean daylight to deeper indigo evening — casting subtle blue-cast light across the room. Belongs in coastal-modern homes where the palette leans white-and-blue, in Hampton-style interiors of pale linen and washed oak, and in Modern French rooms that want a moment of colour without going warm.

Amber — honey-whisky

French Country · Provençal · Warm Traditional

Deep honey-whisky amber, coloured with iron oxide during the melt. Under warm bulbs, amber turns golden — casting the room in the temperature of late-afternoon sunlight through linen curtains. Belongs in French country farmhouses, in Provençal dining rooms with limewashed walls and terracotta floors, in warm-traditional interiors where the palette is walnut, brass, and cream.

III · The sizes

Counted, piece by piece.

Because every glass piece is individually blown and hand-mounted onto the frame, we count them by their true glass count rather than by rough "size" alone. The Small holds 30 individual glass pieces. The Medium holds 44. The Large holds 79 — enough hand-worked glass to fill a dining-room's evening entirely.

Small 19.7"⌀ × 17.7"H 30 glass pieces 4-6 seat dining · standard foyer · primary bedroom
Medium 23.6"⌀ × 20.5"H 44 glass pieces 6-8 seat dining · grand living · single-storey foyer
Large 31.5"⌀ × 22.8"H 79 glass pieces 10+ seat dining · double-storey foyer · grand statement

Not sure which size? A useful rule: the chandelier diameter should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of the dining table below it. Hang the lowest glass piece 30–36 inches above the table surface. Write to service@stuberlighting.com with your room dimensions if you want a recommendation before ordering.

IV · The craft

Made by hand, at scale.

Bulbs included.

Unlike much of the chandelier category, the Bianca ships with its full set of E14 warm-white LED bulbs — quantity matched to the size (S / M / L). 2700K warm-white is chosen deliberately: it's the temperature at which blue-glass shifts to indigo and amber-glass shifts to honey, rather than flattening both. Dimmable-compatible if you swap to dimmable E14 LEDs and pair with a triac wall dimmer.

Textured, not smooth.

Each glass piece is finished with a subtle surface texture — introduced during the shaping stage, when the molten glass is worked against a marver. Textured surfaces catch light differently than smooth glass: instead of pure reflection, you get scattered highlights, soft dimensional glow, and the characteristic handcrafted feel that distinguishes hand-blown work from pressed or moulded production glass.

Adjustable chain.

Standard 19-inch adjustable drop chain. For double-storey foyers, staircase voids, or vaulted rooms, custom longer chain lengths are available on request — write to service@stuberlighting.com with your ceiling-to-floor measurement and desired final hanging height before ordering.

Individual variation.

Every glass piece is shaped individually in the molten state — subtle differences in curve, thickness, and colour intensity remain by design. Your Bianca will be subtly different from photographs and from every other Bianca produced. This is the signature of hand-blown work; uniformity would signal machine-pressed glass instead.

V · Where it belongs

Rooms with a French accent.

A Modern French dining room — Medium in Blue over a walnut table with cane-back chairs, or the same size in Amber over a limewashed oak farmhouse table. Either reads correct for the setting.

A coastal-modern living room — Large in Blue, over the primary seating group. The blue-cast light echoes ocean palette without literal beach vocabulary; the cascading glass catches light through the room's windows during the day and holds its own after sunset.

A Provençal country home — Small or Medium in Amber, over a smaller intimate dining table. The honey-glass and cascading form are the exact vocabulary Provençal interiors have been speaking for two centuries.

A grand two-storey foyer — Large in either colour, hung from an extended chain to fill the vertical space. Ask about custom chain length before ordering.

VII · Questions

Blue or Amber — which suits my room?

Blue is the choice for cool-leaning interiors: coastal-modern homes with white shiplap and pale linen, Hampton-style rooms with washed oak and blue-and-white palette, Modern French interiors that want a moment of colour without going warm, contemporary spaces where the palette skews grey / navy / cream. Amber is the choice for warm-leaning interiors: French country farmhouses with walnut and cream, Provençal dining rooms with limewashed walls, warm-traditional homes where the existing hardware runs brass and gold. If your room is truly neutral or you can't decide, Amber is slightly more versatile — it flatters more interior palettes than Blue does. But if your room is already leaning coastal or blue-and-white, don't hedge to Amber — Blue is the fixture the room actually wants.

Which size for my dining table?

By dining table: 4-6 seater → Small (19.7" · 30 pieces) · 6-8 seater → Medium (23.6" · 44 pieces) · 8-10 seater → Medium or Large depending on table width · 10-12+ seater → Large (31.5" · 79 pieces). Standard rule: the chandelier diameter should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of the dining table below it. Hang the lowest piece of glass 30–36 inches above the table surface. For foyers, the Large 31.5" fills a grand single-storey foyer (12-ft ceiling); for two-storey foyers, order the Large and request an extended chain at service@stuberlighting.com.

Is the glass genuinely Murano?

The Bianca is produced using Murano-tradition technique — hand-blown, batch-coloured glass, hand-shaped, one piece at a time. We are transparent about the distinction in fine residential lighting between certified-Murano (from designated Italian houses, priced at $8,000+ per fixture) and Murano-technique pieces (produced in equally qualified glassblowing studios). The Bianca is the latter — true hand-blown art glass in the Italian Murano lineage, faithful to the French-vintage Provençal aesthetic, accessibly priced. If certification is critical for your application, we recommend purchasing from a certified Murano house directly.

Will every Bianca look exactly like the photos?

No — and this is the point of choosing hand-blown glass rather than pressed. Each glass piece is shaped individually — subtle variations in curve, thickness, texture depth, and colour intensity remain by design. Your Bianca will be subtly different from photographs and from every other Bianca produced. This is the material's signature. For projects requiring multiple matched fixtures (a coordinated dining + foyer pair, hospitality installations), write to service@stuberlighting.com — we can coordinate matched-batch material with our atelier before production.

Can I dim it?

Yes — strongly recommended for both Blue and Amber. The included E14 LED bulbs are non-dimmable. To enable dimming: replace with dimmable E14 LEDs (widely available, $8-15 each) and wire through a compatible triac wall dimmer. At 30-40% brightness, the coloured glass shifts from full-illumination to atmospheric glow — this is when the Bianca is at its most French-vintage-appropriate, particularly over dining tables and in evening use.

How do I clean textured Murano glass?

Routine: dust with a soft microfibre cloth every 2-3 months. Textured surfaces catch dust slightly more than smooth glass; work gently and don't press hard. Deeper cleaning: a soft cloth lightly dampened with warm water and a few drops of pH-neutral mild dish soap — wipe individual pieces one at a time, dry immediately with a separate dry microfibre. Never use ammonia-based glass cleaners, abrasive sponges, or steam. For the Large 79-piece fixture, book annual professional chandelier cleaning — the same crews who service traditional crystal chandeliers handle textured Murano glass. The metal frame is wiped with dry microfibre only.

"We chose a shape with two centuries of Provençal lineage rather than reinventing something new. The Bianca isn't trying to be original — it is trying to be correct for the rooms that already know this silhouette by heart."
