A stacked Washi paper tower. Seventy-one inches of vertical sculpture.
The Akari UF4-L10 is a towering vertical floor lamp — nearly 71 inches of stacked Washi paper rising from a slim base. Where most floor lamps use a single smooth shade, the UF4-L10's defining feature is its "stacked" rhythmic form: distinct horizontal sections layered into a single column, producing a banded vertical silhouette that catches and shapes light differently at each level. The hand-woven bamboo silk ribbing holds the stacked geometry true; the premium Washi paper diffuses a soft rhythmic glow up the entire height of the tower.
This is a piece designed to bridge furniture and architecture. At 71 inches tall and 18.9 inches wide, the UF4-L10 anchors vast living rooms, fills vertical voids in lofts and double-height spaces, and turns quiet corners into sculptural focal points. Ships with a 3000K warm-white bulb included; plug-in installation with in-line switch.
Stacked rhythmic tower silhouette
The defining feature — distinct horizontal sections stacked into a single 71-inch column, producing a banded rhythmic vertical form rather than a smooth continuous shade. Each stacked level catches light slightly differently, creating a layered glow up the height of the tower. This is the most architecturally complex silhouette in our floor lamp family.
Hand-woven bamboo silk ribbing
The stacked form requires more precise internal structure than a smooth column. Hand-woven bamboo silk ribbing holds each section in its rhythmic geometry, ensuring the tower maintains its iconic banded form without warping over years of use. Bamboo silk is finer and stronger than standard bamboo ribbing.
Premium off-white Washi paper
High-fiber off-white Washi paper, hand-stretched onto the stacked frame. The dense paper diffuses light evenly through each section of the tower, producing the warm uniform glow that synthetic materials cannot replicate. Retains its pristine off-white color over years rather than yellowing.
Bulb included · in-line switch · plug-in
Ships with a 3000K warm-white bulb included. Plug-in installation — no electrician required. In-line ON/OFF button switch on the cord. Compatible with any dimmable E26 LED or filament bulb for brightness flexibility.
Where furniture becomes architecture
There is a category of object that sits at the boundary between furniture and architecture — large enough to define a space rather than just occupy it, sculptural enough to read as a permanent feature rather than a moveable accessory. The UF4-L10 belongs to this category. At nearly six feet tall with its distinctive stacked rhythmic form, it does not light a corner so much as define one. The banded silhouette draws the eye upward, emphasizing the vertical scale of the room. The warm Washi glow softens hard modern materials — concrete, steel, glass — in a way that cold metal floor lamps cannot. This is the floor lamp for the vaulted living room that feels empty without a vertical anchor, the loft that wants warmth against its industrial bones, the modernist space that values sculpture as much as illumination.
Where the UF4-L10 stands best
Vast living room corner — the 71-inch stacked tower anchors large living rooms with vertical sculptural presence; the banded form reads as architectural feature rather than incidental lighting.
Vaulted or double-height space — the vertical scale fills the visual void that high ceilings create; the stacked silhouette emphasizes the room's verticality.
Loft or industrial conversion — the scale matches exposed-beam ceilings and oversized industrial proportions; the warm paper presence softens hard industrial materials.
Quiet corner as sculptural focal point — even in a corner, the stacked tower draws the eye and turns dead space into a designed feature; the rhythmic glow creates a meditative pocket of warmth.
Modernist, Japandi, or contemporary interiors — the architectural stacked silhouette suits interiors that value sculpture and intentional design.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does UF4-L10 compare to the UF4-33N floor lamp? +
Both are large statement floor lamps around 71-73 inches tall, but they differ in silhouette. The UF4-33N (72.8") is a smooth continuous paper column — clean, elegant, unbroken vertical lines. The UF4-L10 (this fixture, 70.9") has the distinctive stacked rhythmic form — distinct horizontal banded sections that give the tower a more architectural, sculptural read. Choose UF4-33N for clean minimalist verticality; choose UF4-L10 when you want the rhythmic stacked silhouette and more visual texture. Both anchor large rooms and vaulted spaces; the choice is purely aesthetic.
Is 71 inches too tall for an 8-foot ceiling room? +
We generally recommend 9-foot ceilings or higher. In a standard 8-foot ceiling room (96 inches), a 71-inch lamp leaves only 25 inches of clearance above — visually this can feel crowded, diminishing the architectural-sculpture effect the lamp is designed for. If you have 8-foot ceilings and want a Washi paper floor lamp, our Akari 10A (49") or UF3-Q (57") are better proportioned for standard rooms. The UF4-L10 earns its scale in 9-10ft+ ceilings, vaulted spaces, and lofts.
How do I care for the stacked Washi paper shade? +
Dust gently with a long-handled feather duster or microfiber wand — pay particular attention to the joints between stacked sections where dust accumulates. Do not wet-clean, steam, spray with cleaners, or use damp cloths; water permanently stains and warps Washi paper. Place the lamp away from humid environments and away from direct heat sources. With basic monthly dusting, the paper maintains its appearance for many years; slight ambering over time is natural and part of the material's character. The metal base only needs occasional wiping with a dry cloth.
For the warmest paper-glow effect, use 2700K-3000K LED or filament bulbs with high color rendering (CRI/Ra > 90). Cooler bulbs flatten the paper's natural amber undertone.
Each piece is handmade by artisans — slight variations between individual lamps in paper texture, stacked section proportions, and exact dimensions are part of the authentic hand-craft character.
Place on a stable, level floor surface away from high-traffic pathways. Due to the tall scale, position out of reach of small children and pets.
Safety tested for indoor use in dry locations. Meets technical requirements for North American residential lighting installations.
