The Akari 24N is the most architecturally distinctive silhouette in our Washi paper family — a sculptural triple-tier pendant that stacks three soft paper sections into a single vertical fixture. Where our sphere and disc pendants are continuous round forms, the 24N reads as deliberately structured architecture suspended from the ceiling: three discrete layers, each diffusing light independently, combining into a single sculptural light column. The result is a fixture that performs as both ambient light source and architectural focal point.
At 15.7" diameter and 19.7" tall, the 24N sits between our flat-disc A Series and our tall vertical Juni in proportion — substantial enough to read as a sculptural statement, restrained enough to work in standard-height rooms. The three-tier architecture takes longer to handcraft than single-form pendants, and the construction details reward close inspection. Hand-stretched authentic Washi paper over a high-grade metal frame.

High-fiber premium Washi paper
Premium high-fiber Washi paper — the same authentic mulberry-fiber paper used across our Akari family. Each tier is hand-stretched individually before assembly into the final tiered structure. The paper diffuses light more evenly than synthetic alternatives and retains its pristine off-white color rather than yellowing.
High-grade metal internal frame
The three-tier architecture requires more precise internal support than continuous-form pendants. A high-grade metal frame holds the tiers in their stacked geometry — the structural backbone that gives the 24N its distinctive silhouette. Strong enough to maintain form over years, light enough to keep the overall fixture suspended gracefully.

How does 24N compare to other Akari pendants? +
Same authentic Washi paper, same hand-craft tradition, but 24N is the only tiered architectural silhouette in our family. The Sphere/D Series are continuous round forms (organic and lantern-like). The A Series is a dramatically flat disc (horizontal). The EN Series is an elliptical saucer (balanced versatile). The Juni is dramatically tall and continuous (vertical drama). The 24N (this fixture) is the only multi-section design — three discrete tiers stacked into a single vertical fixture. Choose 24N when you want architectural intentionality and structural visual rigor; choose other shapes when you want continuous organic forms.
Does the 24N work in 8-foot ceilings? +
Yes — at 19.7" tall, the 24N fits comfortably in 8-foot ceiling rooms when hung with the minimum drop. For 8-foot ceilings, plan for the bottom of the fixture to sit roughly 30-36 inches above a dining table or 76-80 inches above an open floor. The architectural silhouette reads especially well in spaces with intentional ceiling height — 9-10ft ceilings give the three-tier structure room to read as design rather than utility. For very tall vaulted ceilings, the 59-inch cord can be extended on request.
How do I care for and clean Washi paper? +
Dust gently with a soft feather duster or microfiber cloth — that's it. Pay particular attention to the joints between tiers where dust can accumulate. Do not wet-clean, steam, spray with cleaners, or use damp cloths; water permanently stains and warps Washi paper. Avoid hanging in humid environments (bathrooms, kitchen areas with stovetop steam) and away from direct heat sources. With basic monthly dusting, the paper maintains its appearance for many years; slight ambering over time is natural and considered part of the material's character.
For the warmest paper-glow effect, use 2700K-3000K LED or filament bulbs with high color rendering (CRI/Ra > 90). Cooler bulbs flatten the paper's natural amber undertone.
